i now that this has been asked a thousand times but i need to unmount and save both the wheels and tires. i have used the boiling method with minimal sucess but the foams did not survive the task. any sugestions welcome

bake them in the oven, 400-450 for about 10 minutes. works like a charm, stinks though

ACETONE: Get a jug of it and some plastic containers. Put some in the containers and drop the wheels and tires in. Give it about 24 hours and the tires will be off. Be sure to put the tops on all the containers. The acetone will evaporate without them.

bake in an oven at 180°c (350°f) for 15 mins, then drop in a bucket of water to cool them off. the glue should let go quite easy then... If you've got some thick rubber gloves, it works better while hot. Just be carefully as the foams will tear very easy while hot... Then soak the rims and tires in acetone to dissolve the remaining glue

(acetone will demount tires alone by soaking them but it will also destroy the foams)

Acetone soak. It will eat up some of the premolded foams, but they are cheap, and should be replaced anyways.

WHY would you want to keep the foams???

I throw the tires and foams out than mount my new tires on the clean rims.

Acetone works the best.

i used to try and save tires by remounting and what not....but eventually got sick of doing it and just buy new....IMO its worth it to have BRAND new tires for the mains.

Acetone works well, but can damage some tires like the Panther Switches. Baking at 350 for fifteen minutes works real well.

Get fans going and open windows. Turn on the stove vent on your hood. The hot rubber will have an odor that most people do not want lingering in their home (especially if they are married).

If you do the acetone trick, do it outside.

x2..the stink is Rancid.....luckily i have a spare stove at my shop that i can Stink up the garage all i want....also you will NEEED a serious pair of work glove's to handle the hot tire....imo it works Way better if u peel the bead when the tire's hott....also that layer of glue that sticks to the tire and becomes ROCK hard after its cool will come off like Jelly when the tires hott.....just suck up the pain and peel it off when hott...the tire Can come out lookin BRAND new.

PS dont breath the fume's....It'll put you on your A**

If you use the Acetone method, and want to save the foams, Carefully slide out the rims while leaving the foam untouched in the tire. When the foam is soaked with acetone, it's very mushy. Set the tires and foams aside, let the acetone evaporate out of the foams as much as possible before handling or you will easily tear the foam.
