Mercedes Benz W05
Hi, I wanted to build a Mercedes F1 W05 and the only body I could find was on
E-bay and from Hong Kong, I have always used Tamiya bodies but I tried this one from China. Arrived wrapped in wrapping paper. Body has enough detail but
no instructions on how side pods are mounted and the cut lines are nearly
invisible so there is a lot of guessing how it is put together. Here are the results
and it came out OK. Regards

PS; Now have to figure out how to make the front winglets,
Any Ideas?

So,
Who's got the tricks for the Tamiya gyro in a SLOW F1 car set up for Japan on green carpet with LiFe 6.6v and 32 turn Formula Tuned motor and 4.0 fixed gearing.
To gyro or not to gyro?
That is the question.

In my experience the colours can look different between photos on screen and the actual vinyl colour. It was a pain to get a match for Tamiya Camel yellow for example.
Shoo goo is available in Europe. I know Action Model Centre in the UK carry it. A quick search shows other do too.
Hope that helps,
Mark
Wow - those Tamiya finals have always run "different" rules
Slow with that motor/battery doesn't sound like a gyro would help much. But you do also mention a green track.
Seems to me if they run additive then we know the grip will come up. If not then it could stay loose and a gyro would tame any drift.
Good luck!

On this track with A compound untrued unsauced tires the rear has way more grip than the front so the setup sort of changes to the complete opposite especially if you wanna get the gyro into the picture.
By opposite I mean dial in tons of steering and dial out rear grip and it is kinda fun to watch the gyro wiggle the car out of each turn and into a straight line.
Looks like a fish out of water for the first few feet when the gyro is a touch on the sensitive side.

Mark, I kinda got a taste of it today at our own "greenish" track, freshish carpet with low traffic.

You got that right.
Throttle is a light switch and without the gyro the car is setup to do donuts!
Gyro works.
Shhhhh.
Gonna have to hide it to run around here!

How wide is TRF101W with F104 (narrow) rubber tires front and rear? Can anyone make a measurement?

Rear wheels have the different widths so 104 wheels will make it 180mm while the 103 wide wheels will make it 200mm.
TRF 101W is supposed to be run with the wide rear wheels to make it 200mm wide front and rear.
That's what the W is for.
There are none of the taller 104 rear wheels that are wide, yet.
The smaller diameter 103 rear wheels are the only wide ones so far.
The smaller diameter 103 FRONT wheels have crappy tiny bearings, not cool.
Tall front wheels and small rear wheels looks funny in the manual picture huh?

Hello everyone,
I have to choose a new electronic for my F1 (3Racing FGX custom) but I don't know what to pick...
*ESC: which esc do you recommand me? What is the most used ESC in the F1 races?
I was thinking of picking a HW Justock esc but I don't know if it is worth. Also, do HW will release a new stock spec esc soon?
*Motor: well, what is the best motor for my F1 car? (both in 17.5t and 21.5t)
I selected some motors:
-HobbyWing V10
-R1 Wurks R1 motor
-Trinity D3.5/D4/Kill Shot (High Torque or High RPM?) => which is the best?
-SchuurSpeed Extreme spec
-Orca TX
Thanks all for your help and advices,
Cheers,
G-rem

No one?
Hi G-rem,
For electronics it is hard to say.
Are you only going to run clubraces?
I have in my F110 the Hobbywing Justock ESC. Nice ESC and does it's work.
For 21.5 I use the ETS HW motor. Good motor and it hardly gets warm.
For 17.5 I have the Turnigy Trackstar motor. Very good motor for the money!
For the motors you have mentioned, I don't have experiance with those.
Kind regards,
