I have all of a sudden had the lower arm pivot balls start popping out. I thought it was just an old set of arms, but I changed to a new set, and its still happening. Was working on the front end last night and the pivot balls came off with the kingpin, both sides. What gives here? Just stock pieces.

A few months ago I sold up my F1 kit to go to 1/8th Nitro On Road.. bit of a departure I know but it's basically all that's raced at my local track.

So I got all this shiny new 1/8th gear only to have it all run over by a guy on a quad bike whilst I was breaking in my new engine. (see attached)

So I've decided to go back to F1 since it's much more affordable and I've got all the gear apart from the car, so if anyone is selling an old F103 let me know

The F103 Ultra from exotek looks fantastic! that might be on the horizon..

For a driver that is running week in and week out and only brushes the board occaisionally, he or she will probably not need that many spares. For a newbie to come in and run the FGX, IMO they will go thru a lot of parts trying to get in tune with the car. Any of the 104 variants are going to withstand the abuse of someone learning to drive them with minimal parts replacement. I'm not saying they dont break, but to me they are a more robust design, and will be a little more forgiving than the FGX.
Just my $.02
No offense taken, very good points. I wouldn't recommend anyone start racing with an F1 car, but if they did the F103 right out of the box is the best and cheapest option. I agree completely with the F103 being the easiest to drive. I still have one ready. I turn a wrench on it from time to time and keep it in working order. As far as the 3Racing car, I did break 2 full sets of front arms and 2 uppper decks before it finally "came in" for me. When I started with my F103 I had never run F1 or foam tires indoor on carpet and tore the front end off of that too. I'm still not that good and all my cars suffer occasionally from bad driver syndrome. I keep a good stock of Tamiya F103 front ends and T bars handy.

The Ferrari 412 is so choice, if you have the means, I highly recommend one

Random F1 thought...

So Tamiya discontinued the F104 Pro and it seems impossible to find a F104X1 (is that discontinued also?). Is there even a hint that Tamiya is releasing another car that is not the F104WGT?

F104X1 Pro?

I think x1 kits can still be found a couple of locals racers picked up a couple just before nats so there must be a few left somewhere. The wgp edition is not necessarily a bad deal for one wanting a rubber kit, the narrow front end pieces are very cheap enabling you to convert for about $20 or so.

The 412 rear wing is my favourite rear wing, I can feel it working especially on fast sweepers.. great aero package! If you believe that kinda stuff!
