wow, thanks. I guess i should have asked; I know of the two bodies, f60 and the stock body that came with the pro f104 kit, what are you guys running for a body, what are the best looking bodies for the f104, where did you buy them? Im looking for other good options. I can see where i may have come off like "please hold my hand and guide me thru a google search" but i Kinda was looking for a discussion or opinions from racers and modelers. I ended up buying another f104pro body. I guess one of my concerns were if certain bodies didnt fit as good and look correct on the f104.

I am only aware of three bodies for the f104, they are all from Tamiya... the one it comes with is supposed to be the mclaren that won the last championship, there is a new one coming out that is the light weight version of the same the third one of course is the ferrari f60..
also i think there are two more coming out from vintage.. the lotus and the wolf
some good places i think worth looking at are trg-rc.com, they have links to zen f104 parts.. they might make bodies as well but not sure...

Z SHUAI, I love your F1 design; it's so refreshing to see someone think "outside the box" with an original design that is not just another tired derivative of a Tamiya F1 car. Your car is more like a real F1 car than anything else currently available.
Your design is very similar to one that we at Enforcer RC have been working on for over a year now, and plan on releasing later this year after we have completed track testing of our prototypes.
When are you going to post pics of Prototype 2?

thanks guys, I really think tamiya has the look thing down, the other thing i wondered about was tires. do all tamiya f104 wheels for rubber tires except all tamiya f104 rubber. I noticed that some wheels said for a specific part number tire. I know this is probably a noob question but I looked around and the descriptions are vague, which would lead me to believe that all f104 rubber tires will fit all f104 non-foam wheels.
btw, no offense abailey, but i am a noob to the f104/f1 cars, so take it easy on me

Kmas and Adam i think both of you guys should pick one up, this is my first f1 car and have been enjoying it a lot...
in terms of rubber tires, get the tamiya type B or soft rears and option front ... fronts are hard... tamiya also has rubber tire wheels... remember the black ones that the kit comes with only work with foams..
the other two popular brands are ride tires and pit shimizu's, i have not tried either but I know that for ride tires you need to get the ride wheels they dont work with tamiya wheels... i will be trying the pit's because from what i am reading they perform better on the f104...
i have also used the type B front and rear foam tires, which are at least .5 to a 1 second faster than the rubber tires..
most people seem to run the cars with the stock silver can because of tcs or will run 21.5.... i have been experimenting with 17.5 and have been recording slightly faster laptimes compared to a 17.5 boosted touring car

Might want to look at the 3Racing F1-09 then. The kit can be had for just over $100 and if you want to run rubber tires you can either run the ones made for the F103 or just a few dollars will get you the front end parts for the F104 so you can use the F104 wheels and tires. Still comes out less than the F104 street price of around $175.

for the f104 i only got the optional rear aluminum heat sinks (left and right), i may get the front aluminum plate for setting camber thingy...but otherwise it comes with all carbon fiber chassis, trf shock, body, type A foam tires, wheels spur and i think the silver can... you will just need a speed control, servo and receiver to get it going... and out of the box setup is good for hot outdoor asphalt... will need to change setup for indoor asphalt or any cool area with those type a foams
