Need advise on Diff fluid for 8ight-t with vspec
Hey guys,
Well today ran for the first time a real race. Half way thru the main my center diff blew out. I would like to know what are you guys running with the losi 8ight-t with vspec in it. I currently have 7K front 10K center and 5K rear. I'm thinking on maybe going to 10K front 20K center and 7K rear. Please let me know and advised greatly appreciated.

I run an 8t and 8ight, with .28 Ninja and EB Mod V-Spec, I run Truhe's set up for both and they work for me, I don't think you blew the diff cause of the oil, there might have been a little more to it, binding or something like that, just my 2cents.
truggy is 7-10-5
buggy 5-7-2

HD Diff cases are not the same dimensions as stock ones, and if you are familiar with rear diff on the 8t, any bit of play just adds to a potential rear diff failure, I experienced this first hand, went thru many rear pinions and diff gears, and couldn't figure out what was going on, until someone on the Sgrid pointed this out to me, instead of shimming the rear diff I went back to the stock case and the problem went away. If you ever talk with someone that has experienced a rear diff problem, they wil tell you that in order to fix the problem everything in the rear needs to be changed, and that is everything, gears, bearings, cases, diff cases and outdrives, once one these elements has gone bad throws everything out of sync, so instead of slowly changing one piece at a time, avoid some frustration and do a complete overhaul. And as I said, this is from my personal experience with the 8t.

i never had an issue swapping my new HD cases into my 1/2 year old 8T...old cases n all....i did however use the alum inserts...and i am anal on changing the rear bearings every month or so...or w/e i got the rear end apart....i dont think they are that different..but i didnt exactly measure them up before installing....any one got New HD cups to measure against the standards ?

Esteban, are you using the new HD diff cases? This is the problem in most
cases,I also had this problem, after having the HD cases, just shim the
diff, replace the pinion and crown gear and you're good to go,it seems
that there is a slight difference between the HD dif cases and the older
ones....
