2009 ROAR Carpet Nationals at The Gate!!
The Gate in Cleveland, OH is proud to announce that we will be hosting the 2009 ROAR Carpet On-Road Nationals. We enjoyed the experience of hosting this event in 2004, and are very excited to be given this opportunity again. The racers have worked very hard over the last 4 years to improve the facility in an effort to make the 2009 edition even better. With the experience gained from the 2004 event, along with our annual Halloween Classic, Indoor Champs Warm-Up Race, and the Grand Finale, we feel confident and well-prepared for this honor. As a club of racers ourselves, our very existence relies heavily upon our commitment to host an event that all racers will find enjoyable.
We understand that most of you will have a lot of questions regarding the Nationals, so we will try to address some of them here:
Date: March 19-22nd 2009
Track Information: Information about the track can be found at www.clevelandcarpetracing.com. For details on hotels, check out our flyer for the Halloween Classic located on our website. Additional hotel and travel information will be posted at a later date. Contact information is also available on the website.
Take advantage of our Halloween Classic October 24-26th for a warmup to the nats!!! http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...am-series.html

Fellow Racers:
This past Sunday night, I went to the track to drop off my gear after the Indoor Champs. Upon arriving, the floor was covered with water, the track soaked and most likely ruined. Turns out, at the time we thought a sump pump had failed in the building, causing the massive leak (not the fault of the track).
We were prepared to get new flooring and carpet for the winter season, until I received the following from the landlord:
Paul:
Bad news - the roof is sinking in the south west corner of the building and that is where the water is pouring in. We are going to send a letter out today, advising you that you need to vacate the space ASAP. Carl will put caution tape up in the area that we do not want anyone in. You will have 30 days to vacate and return the space to us.
They did remove some of the water, but this will occur again as soon as it warms up.
Call me if you have any questions.

Sadly, the scheduled race for December 20 must be cancelled and we are now actively looking for a new location for the track. Some of them are promising, but we will not know when we will be able to move in, or if they’ll fit our needs and budget.
ROAR is aware of the situation and in conjunction with looking for a place to run the weekly racing we are also looking for a building or hotel to run the Carpet Nationals should that space not be sufficient enough. The Nats location will be decided by December 15th or we will have to forfeit the race to the back up location.
We are asking the racers to please help out in any way possible. We need to temporarily move everything from the track to another location in the shopping mall until we finalize a new location. Any leads on potential track sites are also appreciated. Obviously, this is an urgent situation.

That is no good....
Hey Paul and The Gate racers,
Wow, my heart sank a little when I read your post......I hope you and the crew are able to find a suitable place to race and host the Nats as I know all of you are able to put on one hell of a race. We had a similar situation late last summer with some of our carpet getting soaked although not to the extent shown in your pictures. Our carpet turned out fine but we were able to put it out in the sun to dry, hopefully your carpet will be saveable and not ruined. Keep everyone posted and good luck finding a place.

Very sorry to hear about the extremely untimely, and ultimately, very bad luck. I was looking forward to my next trip to the Gate. Next time I guess it will be in a different location. It would have been the perfect location for the nationals. Had an awesome time at the Halloween Classic. I am glad I got to race one big race there before this happened. I hope you can get everything sorted and a new location quickly.
