Ok i was running my Cen Matrix Tr up and down my long driveway.... Operating temps were in the green all day... I was driving it back towards me and all of a sudden it just dies! Yes, there is fuel in the tank, plenty. Checked the temp and it was still good about around 200 good for the climate of today. I tried pulling over the pullstarter, it wanted to fire, but after a couple mins of trying i gave up. i did however notice that it didnt seem to have to much compression, like get hard when it reached TDC. I baught it second hand...thats probably the downfall there... I am just curious if it sounds like the motor is shot. If it is i have a motor ready to go right in.

Whats everyones thoughts on this matter.

Check to see if your glow plug is good or if it came loose. That could explain a sudden dying and loss of compression.
Let the engine cool off and check compression again. If it comes back up, then the engine is too worn and when it heats up it expands, compression goes away...time to bolt in the new one.

I would check the glowplug first. But if it happened all of the sudden and you werent haveing to chase a tune on it all day long. It is possible it ate a rear bearing. That would be why it died all of a sudden and lost compression out of seemingly nowhere.

If the glowplug is/was tight and glow strong and bright, pull the backplate off and see if the bearing looks alright.

right....ill check the plug it could be that... when i pulled the cord it didnt feel like anything was sticking or binding interanlly. It was holding a tune amazingly i only had to lean it out alittle an 1/8 of a turn cause it was spitting alittle fuel but other than that it was great.

I will check the plug and all tomorrow morning. Ill report back on whats new.
