Default What is the penalty for not marshalling?

Was at a race event yesterday where the fastest driver won convincingly in the first two A-mains (1st and 1st) so he sat out the third one, and then stupidly neglected his turn marshall duties. There was some trackside talk about him possibly losing all the points from one of his best mains, but in the end, the race organisers concluded he was still the overall winner.

What are the rules for this at the big events where you guys are?

I wont speak for big events but at our track you lose your fastest lap of your qualifiers.

At CVR down in Madera, California your penalty depends on what race you failed to marshal in.

If you fail to corner you will loose a lap from your best Qualifier

If you fail to corner after your Main you will loose 2 points on Points Race days.

If you leave and fail to turn marshal twice you will be banned from the track for one month.

If you fail to corner in None Points Main Events you will be placed last in your Main (points race)

Losing 2 points would be equivalent to dropping 1 position for that particular main, right?

Should be a total DQ!

Turn marshalling is a serious issue at every track and needs to be dealt with harshly!

A good kick in the AZZ !!!.....To marshal is fun for me as you get the ring side seat and you see how other buggys perform on the turns and jumps.
It allso shows that you are not too proud to help out and pick up a few cars !!!

I've done it. I think its from pulling out early for what ever the reason and focusing on the issue. Then just forget or run out to marshal very late.

I like some of the responses though. Lucky for me I wasn't executed for it.

At the tracks I go to for club races or big events is you do not marshal you loose a lap each time you don`t marshal . But then again if your buddies with the race coordinator the rules seem to not apply to them .

Marshalling is the penalty for racing. He missed the heat, he shouldn't have to marshall.....in my opinion....however, for the main, that is a different story. It really depends on the track. I think that 7 marshalls can do as good of job as 8, but I suppose if there are 3 or 4 in the heat, it would be a big problem.

Marshaling isn`t a penalty for racing . It`s apart of racing , always has and always will . Lets say that one person was supposed to be marshaling wasn`t there and you wrecked in the spot he was supposed to be . Now someone farther away has to run across the track possible blocking a driver`s view to get to your car . Along with costing you a longer lap time and possibly a lap . When you sign up and pay to race you agree to the track rules . Just because he didn`t run a heat doesn`t mean he gets out of marshaling . IMO if you don`t want or can`t marshal when it`s your turn you are responsible to find someone to take your place , whether you raced that heat or not .

THIS is what happens all too often during marshalling... WATCHING THE DAMN RACE! Watch your marshalling area. DO NOT watch the race unless you are DAMN sure there are no cars in your area. Period.
