Default ? about Pinched sleeve and different piston

Well I sent a piston\sleeve in to be pinched. The piston and rod are IMO questionable at best.

I have another piston\sleeve of the same type that needs a pinch. The rod and piston look perfect.

So I put the pinched sleeve and good piston\rod in. They seem to form a good tight fit.

I haven't tried it out yet. Question is will this work? Or am I destined for problems trying this?

Thanks

You can use a piston out of a different motor, you have to have the right fit though, too tight and something will give.
I have actually made sleeves bigger to fit a piston and fix a pinch job someone tried with one of those cheap pinchers. If your not sure send me the piston and sleeve and I'll look at it.

Thanks for the replies. I decided to put the piston\rod that I sent in (OS Rocket) before I fired it up. It was a super tight fit.

Another ? for ya.

Can a tight pinch stall the engine? It was really hard to start. It would fire up, then immediately stall. It looked exactly like I had a blown out clutch, so you know what I mean. And yes, my clutch is freshly built and was not hanging.

After messing with it a while I finally got it running. Was temping at 200 just sitting on a brick. Then it magically dropped to 110 toward the end of the tank.

What I don't like is I have to run a high idle to keep it running. And when it stalls it acts like the clutch and the piston is stuck.

This pinch is much tighter than it was when new. So is my only problem I need more break-in time?

Thanks

Yes it will stall when the pich is tight. You need to keep the temp over 200 otherwise it's too much stress on the rod.
I've heard Os Rocket pinches them pretty tight, I pinch mine so they are about like after 6 tanks.

+1 for 22racer's pinch. I sent Rex a sleeve a couple of months ago and am nearing the end of the 3rd gallon since I got it back....and still running

Might have to give him a try. I hate that super pinch from OS rocket. Makes it a real PITA to start them up again.

I've got a couple for worn out engines laying around. What do you charge?

Try RayARacing next time for your pinch. He is not as agressive and pinches the sleeve in different steps to keep the tapered shape. I am happy with mine.

$15.00 includes shipping back!!!

$35.00 to go through the whole motor. Includes cleaning, pinch, bearing replacement if needed, checking crank wear and rod clearance. I also use Tko bearings.
