Smile Adios!

Hey Guys - Just wanted to let you guys know I'll be off the message forums tonight till Monday Nov 8th. My wedding is this Saturday and I'm off tomorrow from work preparing for the big day and next week is my honeymoon.

Good luck to everyone racing, and the Fukuyama guys down in FL at the Worlds.

Thank you all for the best wishes and I'll see you when I get back, as a married man!

John

john - i have heard that you support dead shorting of cells. how does one go about it? do you need to prep your pack for dead shorting? do you need to cycle it first? what should be observed when dead shorting cells?

thanks in advance!!

Fukuyama does not suggest dead shorting cells. It can be dangerous if it's not done just right and it WILL shorten the life of the cells as well as the runtime. To me, it's too much of a risk. Possible destorying your $70 battery to possibly get an extra .01v that you probably wouldn't notice anyways and loose 30+seconds of runtime. If you do dead short, please be cautious.

Default more punch

For A main racers who are using Fukuyama matched batteries, how many Amps do u charge the matched pack for

1) stock sedan class (27T)
2) Mod sedan class (6 cells)
3) stock 1/12 (4 cells)
4) mod 1/12 (4 cells)

I charge the pack at 6amps for stock class, but I wonder if it is safe to charge it at 7amps to get more punch. The label on the cells says 6amps 1.171 ,...

Also, are your matched pack cells 1.17 or even higher. I suspect the Fukuyama batteries A main 1, 2, 3 guys are using have higher discharge voltage and longer discharge time than what are available on the market. Their cars have a lot more punch!

I would charge all TC at 6amps maybe even 6.5 but for 1/12 5.0 or 6amp i dont think you shold chaneg anything.

6 cell charge at 6-6.5
as for the 4 cell charge at 4.5--5 ya dont want to charge too high cause you loose run time. Dont know about you but my track runs 8min 1/12 races so i need the run time.

1) Stock sedan - 6 to 6.5 is good. 7 is pushing it.
2) Mod sedan - charge at 5. You'll need the run time and it will keep the cells lasting a long time.
3 & 4) I've never run 1/12 scale but any 4 cell 8 minute race I'd charge at 4 amps strictly for runtime.

All this is dependant on the numbers on the cells. Just remember the lower charge rate, yes you'll loose some punch but you'll gain run time and it's easier on the overall life of the cells.

High 1.17's is the highest available for sale as far as I know. Higher number packs generally go to team drivers and honestly, you won't notice that much of a difference. Many times, top modified drivers will run 1.17's because you can get more runtime from them a lot of the time.
