ok yall, rummaging through my old stuff, I happened apon these two motors ive been storing for quite some time. Now they may not be "vintage" circa 50 years old, but I do reckon they are 7 or so years old, and they seem to be pretty special powerplants, but I really dont know.

what I do know:

They are matching motors
The crankcases seem to be coated
The heads are anodized black
They both have standard plug head buttons
Both motors have "Comp" engraved on one side, and "Ron Paris" engraved on the other
They are obviously .21's
The carbs are really trick two piece, partially composite, partially aluminum.

So anyways, heres the pics, sorry they are GOD AWFUL quality, I cant seem to get my digital camera to take a good clear photo upclose for whatever reason.









Anyways, i'll try to play around with my camera but theres a general idea, I just thought they were pretty neat, especially considering Ron Paris is no longer with us, so I thought I would share!

From the looks of them cut crank and all and since he was famous for modding picco's I'd say its a .21 for an 1/8 scale on-road not sure a series or anything though...

I doubt they are on road motors. Judging from the red clay dust all over them, the cut crank and the standard plugs.

They are definitely Picco's. That is one of Picco's many intricate carbs. If the slide is square instead of round it's the infamous torque carb.

Yes, these are definitely Picco engines. The exhaust port shows that, plus Ron Paris. There are definitely from the early ninties it appears from the crank end.

with all of the stuff on them i am guessing they are off road motors.. possibly sprint cars they use a cut crank like that.. just an idea

The crankcase looks just like the G1 Pro I used to have. That would be around 2000-2001 but the torque carb had been phased out by then. Of course there were a few die hards that still loved the torque carb and would put them on their new mills.

I actually have the nut with shaft end for those style cranks to fit the standard CB we use now. Kyosho has them also, I just saw one at the LHS the other day. I don't think Paris Racing closeouts has any parts for these still, but you never know.

Yeah i've actually got the nuts that go on the end of the crank too, i've got two of them in my pit box off these motors. I got these motors from my cousin, 7 years ago who is 4 years older than me, and I recall him saying he went to a national buggy event when he was a kid, and the guy who won the race gave him these two motors [his backup, and the one out of his buggy]. Lol, that doesnt add any more clarity to the picture, but it adds more interesting detail I guess!

Actually, it wasnt a national event, It was a west coast deal. And the race was somewhere near where he lives [Palm Springs, CA]

Those are definately Picco's I believe they are the P6 offroad engine, could also be a newer version of the old P5 Picco that "was THE MILL TO HAVE" back in the mid to late 90's.
