They are not much good for racing then, even if they give more power.

yup i agree. the 2045 is not a fantastic pipe. it make the c6 feel dead.
the torque is not that obvious.

i have tested my c6 with a JP3 pipe. i would say jp3 is better than the 2045.

what pipe is the 086 ir 053? is it the rb pipe as well or novarossi pipe ?

Holy crap! If your C6 feels dead on the 2045? OMG... I run that combo and its totally off the freakin hook! I wouldn't want any more power and I have mine tuned a little rich... Which btw RB engines like to be a hair rich... I think you just didnt have it tuned right with the 2045... At least thats my opinion...

Thats why RB packages up the C6's in combos with the 2045

well. perhaps what u have mentioned is correct. i didnt dare to lean it down too much.

by the way how inwards is your high speed and low speed needle screw?
is it as flat or much inwards ?

i have a guy telling me that he screw it flat and he run the engine at 160 c.
i feel that its way too hot.

Where are you? If you are in the US they are fine. If not don't worry. Just be glad your competition can't use them either.

The 086 or 9886 was the last great 2 chamber pipe from Novarossi. It dominated on-road racing before the three chamber rule came out. It also made a fantastic off road pipe though many people preferred the power band and better mileage of the older 053. They were sold under many different brand names including Novarossi, Rex, Top, RB, JP and probably some others. I think the 086 is still the most powerful pipe you can find for any Nova based .21 if your rules still allow it.

thanks for this info. i guess 053 and 086 which is also a 9886 is out of production already. well perhaps i got to search for it now.

i stil hav a novA 9886 but its not and inline pipe. its those using gasket type. perhaps i should get the manifold and try it.

Be careful going by others needle settings. Fuel and pipes make a big difference on tune. For instance, when I switched from white lightening to Byrons Gen 2 all my motors had to be leaned out about one full turn on top. I also once had my nice RB pipe get smashed and had to put an old RDLogics pipe on it. Again had to lean the motor way down from where it was before.

While I do not know if Nova still makes the 9886 I have seen it listed here and there. I think RB still has them. Inline and old style.

thanks wing racer for the input.
yeah i know changes in fuel and pipe usage does make a different in tuning the engine. i got a 9886 pipe but its not an inline type. i bought a manifold and will try it next week.
i just shim up a bit for my c6 as i do hav plug failure pretty often. i guess it the shimming that contribute to this issue.

cheers

Excessive rpm can cause plug failures as well.

I have a Murnan Modified RB C6 with the 9901 pipe and a 98mm RB header. It is a very smooth package with a ton of bottom end as well as a screaming top end. Motor consistently runs in the 220's on a 90+ degree day, and depending on the track size I can get 11-13 minutes (in a Mugen Truggy) on a fuel run.

without question the 2045 tones down the C6, both the 053 and the 086 will unleash a significant amount more HP,TQ and RPM then the 2045 will... So as crazy as the C6 seems with the 2045 its still nothing compared tot he C6 on these better performing pipes...another monster is the MSR 1005...... Also I know how to tune and my opinions are also backed by the dyno testing that has been done on the C6....
