i tried doing a search for this, but i received about 3000 results.

simple question i hope someone can answer me.

i purchased a buggy 2nd hand off another member and he had in it a oS Vspec engine.. i didn't buy it with the engine, but he did give me all the other clutch related parts.

however, when i went to reinstall the flying wheel tonight i came unstuck when installing the flywheel nut.. it was about 2mm short.

do these come in different sizes?? i now have a Max Power M5B engine.

You will most likely need to put one or 2 washers behind the collett (the conical ring that slides down the crankshaft). That will keep the collet and flywheel together nice and tight.

like he said just add 2 washers behind the conical collet and then assemble flywheel and nut.
Think it needs 7mm or 8mm ID washers which you can get at a hobby shop or hardware store.

also when i screw on the flywheel nut, should it touch the flywheel with minimal pressure while it is still able to be screwed on by hand.

how tight do you need to get it, or do you juse use the engines compression as a guide.

grab the flywheel with some channel locks, and get it real tight...

i make might almost as tight as i can get it

Don't forget to use blue loctite (blue only). Just make the screw tight dont break the head off the screw.

are brass washers ok to use. i thought instead of buying the steel ones, brass will be easier to dremel out (fraction too small inner hole and softer material) and they are also thinner, so i can use 2 or 3 to get the correct spacing.

Don't buy washers and dremel them. Buy the clutch/flywheel shim kit, it has a variety in there. The OFNA one has a nice variety for a decent price.

i ended up putting the brass washers in there, they are a very snug fit after i drilled out a small amount from the inside hole.

after that last post, i did a search and found that someone else recommended brass washers was ok to use.

when shimming the clutch/flywheel u ALWAYS want to use steel washer. and the proper sizes......Brass can and will Round out and can cause serious issues....and especially if your using is behind the collet.....o man i can think of some bad things that could happen if those washer's failed.....
