TO get back at the NTC3 diff issues, I think using a front spool or one way is the way to go! I don't think a front diff will last at all whatever racing motor you put in the NTC3. That diff bolt does not even hold well in my TC4 with a Novak 3.5R, which is not as powerful as the nitro .12 motors. A front spool or front one-way will work well taking a lot power away from the rear end, preventing excessive rear diff wear!!! I personally would favor the spool because of its simple straight foward design over the one-way, making it virtually indestructible, specially if combined with the LOSI LCD DRIVES(LOSA3344), instead of outdrive shredding AE CVDs!!!!!! That's of course a SUGGESTION(not an order) for anyone looking to bulletproof their NTC3's drivetrain with minimal future maintenance............................

Front spool also gives you 4 wheel braking, oneway does not.

Call me crazy, but I tightened my front diff to act as a spool and my car handled like crap. It understeered like crazy and hit the outside wall on every turn..

When going from a front diff(even if it's tight) to a spool, you have to change your set-up a bit and the way you attack turns. I had to change my front tires from 40shores to 38shores, and had to try flipping the rear around the turns as much as possible... It was not easy at first, and I was using a lot of braking, but once I got a hang of it I was thrilled !!! If you do not have a fast steering servo (0.10s or faster), it will be harder to keep up !!! Once you get it to work you will never go back to a diff or a one-way(no front brakes)...............PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can take Bertran's approach or you can go out wide and break very late, then turn inside as you start to accelerate hard, while exiting the turn.

The spool helps the cars stop faster but you can't start turning until you let off the brake. Once you get on the gas the car will begin pushing again but you should have room to make the turn. Also, the spool helps the car come out of the turn faster and less squirrely (I know....that's not a word but it sounds cool for racing).

Come to think of it, this sounds just like what Bertran is doing...but I like my description so much I'll leave it.

PS: down side to this is other guys smacking you in the rear as you cut them off in the turns

Very well put !!! The next step is to practice relentlessly to reach the point where there is no visible long braking periods as you go around the track for an hour or so, whatever racing line you choose to be on, and under heavy traffic conditions !!! If you manage not to flinch or crash, and make fast pit stops, you're ready to race! Also remember a front spool will give you better control in case you have to brake suddenly to avoid an accident: I have seen so many racers lose a race on the last minutes of a main because they could not maneuver well around a crash site....The more scenarios you can successfully deal with, the more you will see the podium. That's why some guys seem to get podium finishes at every event, whatever motor they run..................

I actually almost never touch my brakes. The only time I do is coming off a long straight. Other than that, I typically run quite a bit of drag brake and rely on it to slow me in the tighter turns.

Hi

I think you will find that not many people race the Nitro TC3 anymore. I am sure quite a few people bash around with em though. I would suggest trying the Nitro TC3 forum on www.teamassociated.com website and see if you can more help there!

Cheers

Often referred to someone who doesn't race, but just goes down to a carpark or plays on the street with some mates!

Hope this clears it up for you!
