the attached pic is a futaba FM reciever (27mhz)

theres 2 knobs on the receiver and wonder if anyone know what they are for

They're potentiometers to fine tune settings on the circuit board - probably to make sure that the receiver actually responds to the signals sent to it through the crystal - I wouldn't touch them.
