The R40 I ran was box stock except for the clutch. I used a complete Mugen clutch from the MTX3. Even the tires were what came in the box. Saturday morning practice was the first time I ran the car.

I was ribbing AI as well as everyone else, so don't take it so serious. Mike Collins of Ohio has been the man to beat in Modified Nitro at the challenge events. Stated two sentences later, I said that if some of us other competitors showed, you would have been in for the race of your life. I never raced against you but know that Mike and the Texas bunch would have pushed you to the limit. Sorry if I sound like I slighted you because that wasn't what I meant by it; just some competitive kidding around.

OK thats pretty cool. I have a whole bunch of Mugen clutches and even the lightened clutchbells. Never could be bothered trying it

The best part is the Mugen nose bearing is much larger.

JLock, no offense taken. There were several guys in the race turning good laps, just didn't have the luck needed in nitro racing. Would have enjoyed racing against you guys. Good luck in the Texas Biggie.

Load it into paintshop or similar and force it to print it to 1 page.

Dave,

Did you use the stock settings as well?

What did you think of the R40 compared to your current? Will you be trying out the Hara version thats coming out in July or so?

Do you like decafe of cafinated....oh , wait sorry for all the questions. LOL I just like probing the knowledge wealthy.

You had quite a rep at the challenge almost everyone I spoke with had something good to say about you.

The rest of the forum. Here is what HPI has on their website about Daves performance.

"Nitro Modified Class, with David Franklin putting on one of the best drives we’ve ever seen at a Challenge race, his R40 was set up perfectly for the track and his driving was nearly flawless, which resulted in a 4 lap lead over second place."

After finally seeing his car in action everyone was right. His car seemed to be magnetized and the rails were polar opposites. The car was just shooting down the middle of the lane the entire time.

Hey Artificial,

Thanks for the kind words. The car really was right out of the box. I used the shock oil and diff lubes provided in the kit as well as the shock springs. I did experiment with some different tires but the HPI foams worked as well as the Nitro Shoes I usually use. Keep in mind that the surface at Superior when treated with VHT provides so much grip that almost any setup is driveable so I tend not to make many changes to my cars. I did leave the rear sway bar off, I was just to lazy to assemble the links and after driving the car felt it wasn't needed.

I am going to run the summer point series at Superior with either the R40 or my TC3. I dont plan to purchase any other nitro cars at this time. I did just get a new Xray TK05 so that will probably be the only new car for awhile.

Yes, he is. HE's up her for the moment though. Just wondering. No worries about the pic as I won't need it for any time soon. Trying to save my $$ for the real car.
