The three guys that run the newest Kyosho 4wd are all running the Mamba Max with the 6900 motor. Not sure what kind of gearing they are using on them though. Not too familiar with the setup they use. I will have to check this weekend again.
Here is a pic with the Prototype Sidewinder in my GV2. Is the exact same size as the production Sidewinder. Only real difference is the solder post setup that was used at the time.

sidewinder is just about 60 - 70% of the mamba max in terms of capability due to the less fets on the board. Other than that... its very close... so unless you have to have the best in terms of 1/10 scale racing a sidewinder would do just fine but if your doing say 1/8 scale conversions, a mamba max or the MMM is the only way to go.

i guess its better to burn out than fade away? but from what i have seen run i can honestly say that the CC systems are at least competitive with the others. not saying which or who is better just saying i have seen many a CC set up make A mains at some bigger races here. Did they win? no but they were running in the same main as factory sponsored drivers (car and motor companies) in a race that went A B C in 4wd mod (non sponsored vs fully sponsored). i just think it is funny how CC uses sensorless, tekin does both and hangs its hat that sensorless is the way it will eventually go and now you have losi who makes both sensored and sensorless....between a racing radio(m8,m11,and the others) and the adjustments that you can make on all these controlers i find it hard to believe that you cant come up with something raceable using a CC set up.

What did I tell ya'. There is always some hater that has to chime in with "mine is better than yours" This thread did not ask anything about Novak, SP or LRP ESC's. Read the title! You have already stated you have no experience with Castle beacuse they aren't ROAR approved, so how can you say they aren't good for racing? I beat people with Novaks, LRP's every Sunday, though I won't say one is better than the other.
I'm not going to clog up this thread with arguments over ESC's, just keep it on topic.

well said beast. I completely agree.
Anyway, back on topic. I'm interested in people's experiences with the sidewinder because I've wheeled a few at my local track and found them to feel EXACTLY like a MM.... speaking in terms of throttle smoothness. I have no plans of getting a sidewinder, but I'd just like to hear racers' experiences with them.
