Default R9-F Info

jiml;
Question: what's black and brown and looks great on a licensing attorney?
Answer: a pair of Doberman Pinschers.

LOW ET;
It's been sent to ROAR's for approval. They'll get back to me or post it on the approved list when they've finished. I hope

JayBee & racing_jason;
The notches on the top of the spill plates are to add efficiency to the wing - in theory. It's a thing that's done in the real racecar world. It allows more air to flow across the outer extremities of the "kick-up" portion of the wing - hence creating more surface area that's conducive to creating additional downforce.

Darkseid & bs6ef;
I couldn't agree with you more - seriously. Beauty is "in the eye of the beholder" as they say. I've found that some things in life will take on a sort of beauty if they work well however - no matter what the application.
(I know from experience, many Brits will probably hate any new Pf body - if it doesn't represent a realisticly done car - from the current BTCC)

nemix;
FOXY923 pretty much summed it up correctly.

Tpg racer;
Protoform specializes in race bodies. Most of the body styles you mentioned have a shape/profile that's all wrong for the performance requirements of RC Racing. It's all about "aero" in racing these days.

jla8874;
...awe come on man! - you forgot to mention the Honda Civic roofline and the Jag XF headlights. You are so right though, it's quite a mongrel. lol!
BTW Question: Has Audi ever released an R9? Does Nissan really have this shape of taillamp on any one of their cars?

Thanks for your honest opinions - I value them all. Sorry it took me so long to answer your questions.

Maybe its because despite the UK (and EU) being one of the most successful and influencial regions in RC, the only bodies we get are Jap and US, or no-name wedges that take RC further away from being recognisable to the guy on the street (or even off-road drivers to TC).

and BTW, the BTCC currently has the:

BMW 320si (E90)
SEAT Leon TDi
Honda Civic Type S
Lexus IS200
Chevrolet Lacetti
SEAT Toledo
Vauxhall Vectra
Vauxhall Astra Sportshatch
Honda Integra Type R

and more, yet there's hardly any representation of those in 190mm. And I know that Dale did the MG ZS, and the first version of the Vectra (which was mega popular over here at the time - until the Mazda 6 came along).

I guess all that needs to be done, is figure out a way of designing 5 or 6 different shaped bodies that all handle identical....

A Big Lebowski reference from the head Protoform guy?

<---- customer for life

IMO, it's the funniest movie of all time.

I heard a rumor from "the dude" that the Big Lebowski was is the most rented non-new release movie, really man.

I do really like the look of the body though, to stay somewhat on topic.

ottoman;
Yes - I'm working on the rubber tire version of the R9 as we speak. . It'll be released June 15th and called the "R9-R".
Thanks for asking.

is this considered a "mod" body? i know people run different bodies by class, for example people say the dna1 is a "mod" body and the mohawk is a stock body.

Great body Dale

I just got 4 of them and I'm painting them this week. I hope to get some testing done real soon. This body has some features I haven't seen on other bodies and I'm curious to see the effects. I've heard good things so far though. Keep up the great work.

First it was unrealistic touring car paintjobs, then came ugly dish wheels, now we have unrealistic bodies. It's no wonder R/C touring car racing has been on the decline.

It may look unconventional to most people but this body actually reminds me of an Audi R8.
