will a TA04 belt fit the M2? I just need it as a spare just in case. Thanks.

ta04 fit in the front and 415 belt fits in the back

Well I think it's time for me to start on a new 'old' project!
I started on road racing with a Tamiya TA02 and got completely sucked in with my TRF414m2....
I am now presently club racing with an EVO 5 but I have never forgot about my very special TRF414m2.
I am thinking it will make a great VTA car!
Here's a picture of where I have started!

its funny... i took my old M2 out for a little practice today. running on what i would call low-med bite carpet, i actually ran a tenth faster on my single laps than with my 008 last night. it was actually pretty good, im gonna continue to tweak on it and see where it goes.
i thought about the 36t pulleys, but would require a machine on the lower deck for sure. i didnt try the OE 415 pullies tho. the thing i wonder about changing pulles is the lack of adjustment for the belt tension. it might make fitting different pullies/belts a bit of a chore.
the only newer parts i have on mine currently are the 1- series toe blocks. everything else was pretty much M2.

my setup from last weekend is fairly basic...
front oneway, SMC 4000 lipo strapped across chassis like above pic.
Novak GTB - EA/Trinity Duo 13.5, geared 50/112.
Jaco green premounts on the new Prizm wheels, Mazda Speed 6 body.
front:
Tamiya blue spring, 40wt oil.
2nd hole from outer on tower, outer hole on arm.
front blocks are 415-series, 1a-1a, flat on chassis.
2mm under front inside link.
ackermann on steering blocks in rearmost hole.
wheelbase has 3mm ib front of arm, 2mm behind.
rear:
Tamiya yellow spring, 30wt oil.
3rd hole from outer on tower, outer hole on arm.
standard 2-degree rear hubs.
1mm under inside link, long outer position on hub.
rear blocks are 1x-1a, flat on chassis.
wheelbase has 3mm in front of arm, 2mm behind.
rest of chassis is fairly standard M2, except has the lightweight bulkheads and motor plate.
car was decently quick, but inconsistent for me anyway... hopefully gonna tweak on it some more. on Sorex 28s, i ran a yellow front sway to tame the front down, but removed it for the Jacos, felt much better.
now, off to reassemble one of the other M2s i have with litewight bulkheads for VTA... lol. i ran this car with decent sucess long ago, and am really quite pleased i can bring one out and run decent with it... mind you, im no top shelf driver, typically middle of the pack at the larger events i go to.... but i hope the setup helps you get a starting point.

I have the stock suspension blocks on my M2, any one knows what toe it gives, compared to the blue ones?

if i recall correctly, the stock toe blocks are all the same width, so they dont add any toe other than the 2-deg in the rear hubs, or 0 if you have those. they are marked "2" on the outside.
i can compare them tonight and see how they stack up, as i have a large quantity of the blue 415-style and several of the older silver ones.

The TRF414m2 came with 3 A blocks and a B block for the rear.
The rear had .5º of negative toe, plus rear toe-in carriers, if I'm not mistaken they are 2º rear carriers, giving you 2.5º of rear toe.
The 'blue' blocks come in a variety of sizes allowing you to adjust the toe on the front & rear of the car in .5º increments.

The m2 came with equal length blocks. The 'B' block that came with m2 is the one with a cutaway for the belt. They all came in same width. Older version of 414m came with extra rear toe block for .5 more toe, but not the m2. evo3/4 blocks work better than the 415 blocks with 1 before the letters.

i was thinking that all the blocks on the m2 were the same other than the front belt cutout, but the .5 for the rear was available separately. i do also have 2 silver M cars, one that has been assembled, but never run. seems like in the bag of leftover parts there is a toe block, maybe the .5 one? i dont know.
the Evo series blocks do match the roll center height of the original blocks a little better, there is just under 1mm lower difference. i have adjusted this with shims if need be, but on our track here, it was working well without. i have probably 20 or so 415 seieres blocks, so ill stick to those! lol...
im hoping this keeps working well, i have like 3 M2s that have been collecting dust for a while as shelf queens... its fun to dust 'em off and see how well they still can run.
