what's the recommended starting setup for Tekin 212 17.5 boosted in touring car? Tight track.

A bit smaller than Cleveland. I can adjust fine, just need a good starting point. I've read that the motor likes lots of timing and then I read it doesn't like hardly any timing so just need a base. PM it to me. Thanks.

The motor loves ESC timming. adding timing to the motor is ok too if your not running esc boost also.

17.5 TC Boosted basics.....

45 timing boost
10 turbo boost
2.0 ramp, .15 delay
5xxx start, 20xxx end rpm
6.6 FDR
0 motor timing
profile 4

the rest is all driver preference...

For more punch, lower start RPM. This WILL create more motor heat.
For more mid range, lower end RPM....DO NOT DROP BELOW 15XXX without gearing down.

On tracks with less than 70 ft straights, reduce or eliminate Turbo boost. It only builds heat if you have it in the ESC, but really are not efficiently using it.

Matt

Does anyone feel bad for the other racers not running Murfdogg motors when you pull them hard out of the corners or pass them on the straights.

Ummm no!

I ran a superstock (13.5) ZX5 Kyosho with mod guys Saturday and let me tell you this 13.5 was keeping up without breaking a sweat on the high bite indoor clay 100 foot straight. My RS pro setup was sensored, timeing 85, boost 45 rpm range at default. Matt's Synergy motor came off the track at 145 degrees after a 5 minute heat and 2 minute warmup. If anybody wants my complete setup sheets for Tekin or Kyosho PM me and I'll gladly send them to you.

I will be running 2 wheel 17.5 expert stock with timeing and stock without timeing in my RB5 all weekend and will keep everyone posted. I will also have a setup sheet ready Monday for who would like to try it out. I am always open to good discussion with questions or comments if anybody would like to discuss my setups.

Where are you guys taking the temp of the motor from? I was temping the can and it was 130-139 after the race but with the holes at the each end of the can you can temp satator where it was in the 160 deg range.

Same here. The Murfdog manual you get with the purchase of a motor states to check temps at different locations on the can and use the highest reading you get. This includes the vents.
