I run on a very large outdoor track in NZ in a 13.5 class (big as in guys gear down as low as 4.0 in 13.5!).
I'm geared at 4.6 which is great for the infeld on our track.
Motor timing =
Boost = 45
Start RPM = approx 5000
End RPM = approx 18,000
Turbo = max
Turbo ramp = 2
Delay = 0.8

After a 5 minute run on a hot day i'm temping around 70 deg C, and the car pulls hard all day long.

I could gear-up, but I have plenty of in-field punch which I like. Racers are won and lost in the corners

I have not tried the tekin motor yet, but I can tell you that the LRP x12 line of motors are very fast, BUT also very hot. I have compared LRP 10.5 with Novak 10.5 and Team Powers 11.5. The speed is about the same with slightly different gearing, but the LRP is noticeably hotter than the other 2 motors.

I wouldn't mind giving the redline tekin a try. It should pair up very well with the tekin RS/Pro.

Randy,
Got a question to ask.
Would it be ok if i use the Version 203 on a 5.5T or 4.5T Motor?
What Set-up might be possible???
Has anyone done that here?

I have used 203 in my b44 with a 6.5. You can definitely use boost to help get a cooler running motor, but it doesn't have the same linear feel as static timing. Feel was more important at the local indoor track and heat wasn't an issue so I stuck with v200. If you're looking to try it: Settings of 0 to 5 on the motor, 10-15 boost, and start/end of 5k/30k bring a new meaning to overpowered.

You are way overtimed...I'm surprised you haven't smoked anything. Most setups are running 0 to 10 degrees of timing on redline motors. Drop the motor to 5, increase boost to 55, and lower your end rpm a k or two.

way to much motor timing combined with timing boost,lower the motor to first mark from 0 and timing boost to around 45 end rpm around 12k and 2xxx start.try this with no turbo see how it is and then add 5 to the turbo and timing boost with your delay and ramp

edit.i was typing krio and losi beat me to it

I have tried sensored mode + 8.5R and 7.5R on touring cars. You will have to gear very tall (high FDR) and set boost and turbo lower. It works very well. It can almost keep up with 4.5R's. (punch is not as good as 5.5/4.5, but top speed is there on the straight away)

However, tekin advice to use dual-mode for mod motors. I think this will keep the esc cooler. So if you have 5.5 or 4.5 motors, its better to use dual-mode and play with gearing and the time advance setting.

Thanks for the info guys,
Will give it a try and maybe try some set-up.
If it's a advange over the Occa-wind motors will update.

Track here is quite mid-size with medium traction.

Running TC.

OK trying to further get my head around this speedy and how it works. I am running zero timing on the can with a duo 2 17.5. Anything else and it just gets hot and fades at the end of the run. I was playing with start and end rpm and found a really nice range to suit the track(2800ish-10k FDR 8.44). Started playing with the boost and turbo(40-15) but im not sure how this all ties in with the ramp, delay and throttle profile. Also whats the advantage of running lower boost and higher turbo vs higher boost and less turbo? Just starting to get my head around this speedy and im a bit stumped. Also the wildly varying FDR people are running is amazing. Any thoughts would be apprecaited. Cheers Benzaah

I'm surprised you're at that FDR with a 17.5 motor to be honest. It seems very low ? (unless the track is tiny of course)

I'm in the camp of "gear it first, add timing to tune" rather than "time it to the limits" though...
