Weren't you running really low-turn mod motors? If so you may want to rethink your boost level.

No only sometimes 4,5T on 5 cell but i race with a 10,5T.
When i run the 4,5T i run dual mode en turn the timing down to 30 or max 40.

What is the best gearing for a tekin 10,5t motor?
Ad our club we tested the Tekin 10,5T with a LRP TC and found oud that 4,6 to 4,7 is the best on 5 cell.
What must i gear my car if i run a Tekin 10,5T and a Tekin RS Pro?
Is 5,1 better?
I have put the boost on 30 and the motor on 0.
motor on the lrp was 12. not changed.

General setup for onroad is to run 0 motor timing and full boost with 189 software.

For 10.5 this is a bit off in my opinion and I'd like to see a setup like this one along with 15 degrees of motor timing:
Randy -- the filename for the image you posted mentions that it's the setup for 13.5 as well. Is this what you recommend vs. 0 motor/30 boost like for 17.5?

=
1/8 x 3/8 x 3/20????

I my self havnt heard of 3/20ths

He's running the Optimis Prime version. Maybe we'll get it someday.

I was thinking it was the "Ultra Spark" edition.

Hi Randy,

The tarmac track i will be running the 1/12 (89t spur powered by Tekin Redline 10.5t, RSpro 189 & 4 cells) on has a long straight of 25m and track width is 3m. Overall track area is approx 300sqm with 9turns.
It will be great if you can advice what will be the ideal pinon size i shall be running for the above track.

Cheers!

The team likes the 0 motor timing full boost on quite a few setups like 17.5 and even 13.5 onroad.

That is actually my 13.5/10.5 Offroad setup, however it works quite well regardless of platform. For 17.5 you can go up a bit in boost and reduce motor timing to fit the track.

For 10.5 though I think there's some more speed to be had with less timing boost vs. motor timing. Remember that when the motor winds start going towards mods you're going to be using less overall timing. The motors already make more power so its more fine tuning the powerband.

That is a large track. My guess would be to start around 2" and go up/down from there. This is basing it off of a setup with motor timing at 15-20 and using my 13.5/10.5 setup. If the infield is flowing you're going to lean more towards motor timing vs. boost timing.

with 6cell it's going very fast. just like mod. but we drive 5 cell. the car is much easer on the gas than when i use 6 cell.
With 5 cell the car drives like a 13.5T on 6 cell.

I start with timing on the motor 0 and boost 30.
As that is to much i can put the boost back and timing on the motor.
I'm going to try it saturday.

Sorry this has probably been asked a million times but I cant find it.

What is the approx FDR to run a Tekin 17.5 with v189 (using 0 motor / 30 esc timing)?

It's a large outdoor track for what its worth. So I need to know the low end of the FDR range. I need to figure out what spur gears to buy in a car that is tricky to gear.

Would it be 3.0 - 3.5?

I'm going to work on this this Sunday, same conditions. I will tell you that everyone around here runs an FDR of 3.5-3.6 with a 17.5 with other brands, so no boost. I'm going to start at 3.9 and watch temp carefully. I believe I've heard others say they went above 4.0.
