Timing is out of the box set at 12 degrees. If you look at the endbell there is a "tab" that lines up with the decal. Full counterclockwise is 24 degrees and full clockwise is 0 as viewed from the sensored end.

You should have no issues running any other BL motor with the Tekin RS.

Love my RS speed controls. I travelled 220 miles to race @ Bumps and Jumps RC Speedway in PA. Saturday is dirt oval racing. I was able to TQ and win in 13.5 Sprint and 13.5 EDM.

Unfortunately not. The classes are either Mod, or spec battery and motor. I don't have either of those. I run the redline 13.5 in both classes. Probably some day I'll have to buy the spec battery and motor but not yet.

Ok question I have a losi type R racing on foam with a losi 17.5 motor, I have a RS pro with 189 firmware and the boost is set at 18, The two questions are
1)Is this the right level boost for losi 17.5 on foam or should it be full boost(30).
2)what do I start with for gearing on medium size high bite carpet.

Thanks in advance.

Gearing always depends on layout. You may want to try our team setup form the Snowbirds for 17.5 which was 0 motor timing and full boost(30).

The team felt that this setup offered superior bottom end and top speed.

Detroit,

You should run 0* motor timing w/ 30* boost and between 44mm and 48mm rollout. But the rollout will depend on the size of the track. Start at 44mm and go up till you get around the temp you want.

I finally decided that I'm going to run 189 for the first time this weekend. I've been running the RS with a 17.5 for several months and I just had it so fast and dialed that I was reluctant to mess with it. Now I'm putting it in my 13.5 car so I figured I'd step up. Here's my initial setup -- let me know if you see any obvious errors:

RS v189
Sensored-only
SpeedPassion 13.5, timing fixed at 12° (per this thread), so 18° timing boost
Drag Brake 0
Brake Strength 100
Neutral Width 10

I'm leaving my FDR at the usual 4.55 (good-sized outdoor asphalt) but I have several steps of smaller pinion which I imagine I'll need (have temp gun). What are you guys gearing a 13.5 to in similar circumstances?

Hows the SP motor with 18deg boost? is this the optimum setting?

I don't know yet -- I won't be doing any testing until Sunday. From everything I've read it seemed like motor timing + boost = 30° was a good place to start, and the SP motor is fixed at 12° motor timing...

There is 8* of timing built in a duo. Speedo has 15* built in. and boost is maxed out. So 8+15+30=53* of total timing is what I've been running in 17.5 with between a 44 to 48mm rollout.
