Ok, I have a Corally RDX running rubber and in door carpet track. I run a RSpro and 17.5 tekin. My gearing is 48 pinion and 88 spur. i was messing around with hotwire and 1.89 today. tried turning boost up and then motor timing and so on. motor would get 180+. tried no boost or timing on motor and it is dog slow. am i wrong with pinion? ive read on here you need to crank timing up and so on but no one ever gives the gearing they use on here. Sooo, what do i do? Need specific details on procedures when you choose gearing then you start doing timing. There isnt any clear steps i have found. any help?

Nobody says gearing for the most part because it depends on other factors. Track length, tires, motor brand, etc.
When I use a Novak 13.5 with rubber tires my FDR is 4.4, when I use my Duo 13.5 on the same car and track my FDR is 5.2. When new people come to my track and ask me what to gear I say start at 4.5 and move up or down from there =).
Every motor comes with a recommended gearing from the manufacture. Start from there with the default timing and the boost set to 0 in sensor mode. Gear your car till you feel the infield seems aggressive enough. Then keep adding boost till you reach top speed about 3/4 down the strait. Then fine tune using 5 degrees up or down or 1 tooth up or down to get the temps and everything just perfect. Sometimes you need to change the spur gear to get the perfect setup.
Put the time in and you will be fast.

Tekin= unbeatable service
I had met Kenny last week at a club race and he upgraded the software on my RS he gave me his screenname and told me to contact him if I needed any thing. The software update seems to have made things smoother and added power. I am not sure what the updated software does but I can say that for me it works well so far.
This week I broke the capacitor lead and it shorted out. No fault of the equipment, I just left the leads too long when I soldered them on. I have another race in a couple of days and did not want to miss it. My LHS is ordering the cap but I doubt they will have it by wednesday. So I pm'ed Kenny this morning to ask where I could get one. He contacted me within 5 mins and told me where to get one. Unfortunately they were out.
Here is where the unbeatable service and Kenny's commitment to helping others in the hobby comes in to play. I sent Kenny my address and he is mailing a cap to me on his way to FL tomorrow.
This is a seemingly small thing but it shows great commitment to the hobby in general and support of the product itself.
Thanks Kenny and Tekin.

This is why Kenny is on the team. Not just cause he's fast(he is fast) but because he goes out of his way to support our customers and their Tekin products.
Good luck to everyone at the Birds! Wish I was going, but I'll be there watching on the puter!

Kids LOL
My Novak 13.5 reached 312° today. The stickers melted off, it was REAL fast though.
Lesson learned, never mess with boost/gearing when your setup isn't working. Because when you get it working and start running "real" laps that 150° you thought the motor was coming off at turns into 300+ and melts stickers.
Was fast though. 4.11 FDR 12° Motor, 12(+15) Boost.
To my surprise, the ESC was barely warm to the touch.

After about 15 battery packs I think I have finally found the optimum timing and rollout for my driving style at the local touring track for the 189 update. I've been able to find another few tenths since getting the software update.
