I have been racing an early generation LSP as my Truggy, and have been happy with it. It gets it on pretty well, and is very competitive at the club level.
Normally, I had been racing my Losi 8 as my buggy, but recently I won a Evo at the local HB challenge @ Hemet RC, and have been racing that, and giving the Losi a break. I have to admit that I like the Evo! It really is a great car!! Although it may be a little on the heavy side, it is very stable, durable, and easy to drive. Dont get me wrong, I love my Losi, but I cant say that it is a ton better than the Evo. With a few shock mods, and set up changes (from out of the box), the Evo can easily hang with any other car out on the track!
Since racing the Evo, for the past month, at the club level, i have landed in the A-mains in front of many of the more popular brands.
The new proto, with the apparent Big Bores, looks saweeet! I have been sticking with the stock shocks, but am looking to switch over to some Jammin Big Bores, although the stockers work pretty good now.
The Losi handles the rough stuff better, but that mainly has to do with the shocks, in my opinion. The Evo can turn on a dime, as well as the Losi, and is actually just as predictable.
Anyways, it is just MY opinion, that the HB Evo is most definitely a competitive car, and HPI/HB is heading in the right direction, and will most likely find themselves at the top of the list soon!
We have some larger races coming up (JBRL Series & The Dirts Saturday Series), and i will be racing the Evo, so we will see how she does against some tougher competition.
