For your second question, two ways to know.
1. While sitting on a stand or block, rotate the rear wheels (do the fronts as well) if they catch (momentarily stop or lock) you got a problem, can be in the front, center (if equipped) or rear.
2. The old fashioned way, tear it apart and take a look see

i figured out that my clutch was wasted and my rear diff was out lmao so i guess off to the hobbyshop again hahaha
