Great explanation. The example speaks for itself. I have argued with people in the past when I used universals instead of CVDs. On RCs they can come out of the outdrive easier than universals. Universals are not perfect, but I prefer them. I don't think they make universals for the Mini T & Sliders just dogbones and CVDs.

rezenclowd3 is correct that the common RC 'cvd' is not a constant angular velocity joint.
But there are true constant angular velocity joints far older than the Thompson. The outer joints of front wheel drive cars use a Rzeppa joint, patented in 1927.
The inner joints of typical FWD cars are not quite constant either, they are modified versions that give up true CV for the ability to telescope to allow for suspension movement.
