.. You can pick up a "HUGE" ammount of Torque and Reponse speed from a few small adjustments of the brush hoods and getting the play out of the negative brush ..(tight fitting in the brush hood) 
also after about 4 packs the bushings might be broken in also...
this motor seems to like the comm a bit small.. when I 1st bought the motor the comm was at 7.6mm but now I have the Comm around 7.4 and it keeps getting better...
6.0 for your final drive..?? hmmm each motor is a bit different..but try a 5.9.. and see how that works
I"ll have to post a Picture of what I am talking about with the Hood alignment

I got my TZ yesterday at the track. Opened the motor, trued the comm, centered the armature in the magnetic field using teflon shims. Aligned and sized the brush hoods, changed to trinity high silver brushes, red springs on the+, green (slighty tweaked) on the -. Broke it in at 2.4v for about six minutes then ran it. Am I doing anything wrong or did I miss something? Thanks Dave.

have you guys tried adjusting the brush hoods yet.??? there is a lot of power to be made with these motors...

I have been trying to crack my brains over this, not sure how or what tools would be required to do this correctly.

thanks a lot for the tips. me when got my motor break it in under 10mins change the brush epic then run it. i'll try gearing it up at 5.8+ or 5.9+. those tips abt the hood i'll try it. coz b4 does'nt matter to me as long ive break it in change the brush and race it.

so you are crushing the brushoods so that you get alot better contact between the hoods and the brush, any other tricks?

Hi Dave! I align my brushes the same way you do except I use a Big Jim alignment bar instead of something similar to the one you use, which I also have or had and lost. Will get back to you on Monday regarding the motors.
