Yea, Novak 7.5R is a fast motor. If you want something really fast, get a 6.5R- it will be very hard to use offroad unless you are on a high traction track.

Default Questions

First what do you want to do, bash or race?

If bash as stated before, Novak brushless is great. You will need a brushless speed control. To increase run time and make things simple, go to Lipo battery if you can afford a Lipo charger. You can also use a cheap machine wound mod and use a standard speed control (not brushless type). Make certain your speed control can handle the turns of the motor.

If you want to race, check with your local track for rules for the classes and run according to your class.

What class are you running?

A fast motor really doesn't matter if you can't control it.

Assuming you are not doing a spec class and this is probably 2wd racing, start with either a 7.5 or 6.5 motor, or a 4600 / 5700 Castle creations style motor, depending on your track rules.

I run the castle creations 5700 motor, current in stadium truck, and previously in 2wd buggy and 4wd buggy, felt it was a great all around motor.

Bulldawg, are you using a Trakpower Saddle or stick? I have a B44 and w/ my 4200 NiMh's in there, the thing is ballistic using a 5.5..I am thinking once my TrakPower saddles come in, I may need to go up to a 6.5...

Depends on your driving ability. If you are just starting out you will turn quicker laps with a stock motor, 27 turn brushed or 17.5 brushless.

It ain't as easy as it looks, but it is fun!

i am using a trakpower stick in my xxx4g+. the power is ridiculous at this point. i am bringing the front end off the ground down the straight away. i thought i would have more power from matched nimh's but the proof is in the pudding with these trakpowers. i have just as much bursting speed if not more then what i was getting from my matched EP 4600's

Ok- I was expecting more power out of the TrakPowers (and it looks like that is what I will get). I am actually a new driver for them (and am Anxiously waiting for my shipment!!). I dont really care if the 4800 saddle they are coming out w/ doesnt have very good punch (even though I know it will), but I am really excited about the new 25C 4900- I may have to switch to a ligher mod motor for 2wd w/ that thing.

i hear you on that chris, i think i might have to put a 6.5 because my 5.5 is a ton of power with the trakpower lipo.
