johnbull - thankyou - shame I have to spend the evening at work!
On the whole HPI going for the rtr market issue, I don't fully agree.
HPI appear to me to be a very ambitious, commercially minded company - hence the spread into a wide range of R/c car genre's, to increase their profitablility.
From what I've heard, they have very good customer service, a very good forum, and products that are raceable, unlike a lot of other sport-focussed manufacturers.
Yes, the pro3 doesn't seem to have been a success (it's noticeable how often this forum slips to the bottom, unlike those for other cars), but I still believe the basic design has a lot of potential. I'm confident the car will develop into a regular race winner - it does have occasional flashes of brilliance already.
I think HPI understand that race credibility adds to the ultimate success and reputation of the company, so they're not going to abandon the racers in my opinion.
