Hey Guys,

Another Pro3 owner here, mine is no where as tricked out as some of yours, but I love it none the less....Won the points championship in our spec class with it...got lots of people looking at it...wondering why a TC3 or XXXS didnt win it all...

Anyways, it was just announced that the HPI Challlenge is going to be minutes from my house, but with the stock rules it is a box stock setup....anyone have a good medium bite asphalt setup without any option parts...

HPI Challenge Rules:
" No other modifications or structural changes - kit springs must be used (yellow Sprint springs for Sprint, silver for all other cars), no heat sink plates, etc."

So if someone has a setup they think might work let me know....

Lastly, if anyone has a box stock pro3 they want to get rid of, there are several people locally looking for them....

I don't have a setup, but I think the tricks are to use damper oil, piston, shock position and camber links to get the car handling. Why not just go for the modified rules? (if they have some).

My car is also a lot less purple than other peoples - there's about half a dozen purple and carbon cars in my neck of the woods - and I can beat most of them on a good day!

Anyway, we can't keep bumping the thread without adding stuff, so i thought I would share a nice and smooth slippy floor setup with you...

As standard except...

HB Top deck fitted (other options, HPI A381 graphite moulded chassis, HB 3-piece motor mount, HPI alloy spur hub).

Shell - HPI Alfa

Tyres - Schumacher Yellow Minipins (Narrow) w/schumacher blue foam inserts.

Motor - Fantom P2k2 on 25/81

Front:
Pink 27mm springs
40wt oil
3deg castor blocks w/3mm spacing under camber link (I use an 18mm screw for this instead of the standard 15mm screw)
Camber 1 deg (even wear)
Touch of toe-in
5mm ride height

Rear
Blue 27mm springs
30wt oil
HB 1deg toe in rear hubs (making 3deg total w/ 2deg arm mount)
Camber 1 deg (even wear)
5.5mm ride height

Notes:
Experiment with lower ride height as spring is firm-ish and surface is smooth.
HB rear blocks make the rear end much more consistent - less prone to kick out unexpectedly.
The raised front roll centre seems to stop the front end biting too hard when lifting off in fast corners.
Car may have a tiny bit of understeer for a track with lots of tight hairpins - either stiffer rear springs or a raised rear roll centre may help.

Actually my modified Pro3 will be running in the Pro class, but most of my buddies are running stock so I plan to run both classes. The rules for the stock class are pretty tough, should be interesting to see who can get a workable setup...

The Stock class rules for electric stock state that the Silver Springs MUST be used. ANY oil or piston and NOTHING about internal springs.

I think the LHS still has some US version Pro-3's for $119 usd. That's all I need is another car. (7 already)

I assume that they are all machine thread.

Machine screw threads will pull out of the plastic too easily, IE: Associated vehicles.

I know. I hope you don't mind that I quoted you. It was a very good statement. Also I think it is much easier to strip out an 2mm allen than it is to round a phillips slot (a least in plastic parts). Some grades of Stainless steel are weaker than the Steel screws used in most R/C car kits.

I like the allen heads but also like the tapping screws. Ever tried to thread amachine screw into graphite composite? It is very hard.
