Default Not stupid...

Not stupid at all. I was prepared to split the two (side-to-side); but, the servo and my SPX ESC are biased to the right side of the car. Plus, the Spektrum 3100 receiver and Novak voltage booster weigh hardly anything.

After testing, I might switch from the booster board to a booster battery. Would be great if someone would come out with a small footprint ESC specifically for single cell.

Must say that I did not experience much braking potential while testing in the street in front of my house. May have to learn to shout "One Way" again!

Should be headed to the track for testing on Wednesday or Thursday.

BB,

I am thinking that the ESC behind the battery will work for carpet. Still not too sure about on asphalt...May not allow for enough weight transfer.

You didn't specify your ESC for anyone to be able to comment on gearing.

I have the ESC behind the battery for carpet and the car is great. Even my crappy driving can't make it look bad, just slow.

Default More...

Got in 3 hours of practice with the new 1S setup at NorCal Hobbies today.

After first run, I put the new longer side links on the car to calm things down a bit. That helped do that a tad.

Traction was initially affected by the sun on the track. As the sun went down and shadows spread over the asphalt surface, the car's handling got better and better.

Finished with a fast lap of 17.5 seconds for the day which is only 1 second slower than my 17.5/2S did last week. I would say that the car should be able to do a 17.0 flat during our night racing (high traction).

I did experiment with applying suntan lotion to my tires for the first time. There may be something to this; but, more testing is required.

In my mind, the car is still configured to perform best on high traction carpet.

Forgot to say...While converting the CRC to 1S this weekend, I had a bit of an issue. Couldn't figure out why there wasn't a balancing connector on the TP5000 pack...Duh!

Is it possible to diet a bone stock crc 1/10th down to the wgt 1s 930g (32oz) or are there lightening modifications required.

Has anybody recently put there CRC on a diet? any tips or tricks?

I'm running 2s 13.5 and is at 1158g, but the extra weight appears to help over the bumps

My CRC Gen-X 10 with SPX, TP5000 1S and 13.5 Duo is down to 945g with little effort. Using titanium screws (probably about the same wt as aluminum ones), cutdown Manutech bumper, front center brace, center plate for ESC behind pack, 5th body post, no heat sink on ESC or motor. Seems pretty doable to get to 930g for the IIC.
