Tamiya Ta06

I have machined the chassis under the motor to force air into the motor. The slots I made are swept up and back and directly force air into the can vents on a D3.5 or revtech. I run my ta06 in USGT carpet and it has helped drop motor temp by almost 20 degrees in an 8 minute main vs no holes in chassis. I also run the carbon battery tray and have dremeled the leading edge of the slots that hold factory tray to scoop air towards the motor.

Hi, I have a TA06 and about to start building it. Im focusing on making it more durable and less maintenance since it'll be run on the streets. Can the stock rear gear diff last or should I upgrade to steel gear diff bevel gears? Or replace the whole thing with a ball diff? What else do I need to reinforce?
I'll be pairing the kit with a 10.5 brushless system.
Thanks

Hello all.
Looking for suggestions and tips. I run gt3 with an associated tc6, soon my f104v2, but looking to pick up a tamiya for vta and hopefully try to attend tamiyas tcs event in april or may. I tried looking for the the ta06pro thread but only found this one. Does anyone know or have a ball park when the ta06 pro with upgrades will be out? Tamiya site doesnt mention and whats you guys take if its worth it or go with the ta06pro.
Also what are the most gotta have/back up parts? Been trying to read little by little each day in this thread.
Thank you in advanced

I already have a TA06 pro with upgrades kit. I highly recommend this to anyone who plans to race a ta06. I purchased mine from Japan and had it air mailed. It has been available over seas for months. I know rc mart has them in HK and they can get it to you in less than a week. Not sure why we are always last to get new goods in the USA.

Because they are close to the source. Most of the time, we get our stuff by boat.

Seems strange to me still as I have had large heavy shipments containered over from Germany and still only takes just over a week most of the time. I think we r getting the shaft.

Today was the first tamiya race of the belgian tamiya cup series.
My TA06 PRO was the fastest in it's class and i was even faster with a 16T sensorless brushless motor then most of the guys with there double deck carbon chassis cars (of a faster class) who were using a 12T sensorless brushless motors.
Very very pleased with the car, one of the best cars i've been driving for the last few years (along with my F104 verII pro version).
My both winning cars of todays race

Yup it's a great car, and very competitive. Cookie's TA06 looks very shmick saw this at the Dandenong race and he smashed everyone in his class that were running $500+ chasis. Very impressive.

Awesome Car Cookie!!
Love the TA06 and the Exotek chassis is fantastic but your point is lost when Cookie's car cost over $500 to build up! Just sayin'
TA06 Pro approx $290
Tamiya Blue Shock Spring retainers $14
Tamiya IFS Alum Rocker Arm Set $35
Exotek Chassis $125
Exotek IFS Blocks $13
Exotek Carbon rear shock tower $17
Exotex Carbon bumper brace $7
Grand total $501 + shipping + other hop-ups Cookie might have to push the price up even more.
(I still love the Tamiya cars but the non TRF models are like blue CRACK and hop-ups will drain your wallet!)

Blue crack is an understatement, I went above and beyond the EX-06 conversion kit and installed the Eagle Racing alloy hopups. I've since removed the EA gear case and went back to the carbon reinforced one which saved a good 25g over the rear wheels.
I want to do the same mods as Cookie and swap the servo/esc positions as it would save more weight on the decrease in cable length.
Attached are some pics of mine including one with drift tyres/shell before I decided to race it.
