I was 15 years old at the time and I was racing oval when oval was huge and I was there to race at the Thunderdrome and actually saw him when he set that record. Pretty cool that same year someone war running a brushless but they couldn't get it to work anyways cool car by the way how much was it.

Timmy, it might be blasphemy but I'm thinking you need to strap in a 3.5 and set a new record.
Or bring it to the Birds and do some photo ops

Try it again? The old folks home should be able to release "Kent" for a half day trip. Problem is who would want the responsibility to sign for him....not me!!

The Super F1, designed by Ito and HPI's first car kit, is released. It is Ito's first-ever R/C car design from the ground up and is a critical and commercial success. At the same time, the Road Star (a pan car in oval and road course versions) and Street Machine (a pan car for beginners) are released. Dave Potter (HPI's current General Manger) is hired to help use his NORRCA Dirt Oval National Champion skills for the development of new products. Kent Clausen, past IFMAR World Champion, is hired to take over marketing and graphics duties, just in time for the Chicago Hobby Show. His first project: designing a new HPI logo and kit box for the Super F1.
A few years ago, they have a "look into HPI", but I canīt find it now.
He was still at HPI 1998... http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...07/ai_n8792192

Being the guy who now does the VELODROME races where the INSANE SPEED runs took place WAY back then...it would be cool to have that on display there once in a while...but I wouldn't really have any place for it otherwise...
I love some of the old HISTORY making r/c cars though, and being at the old RCThunderdrome Races...was an awesome time
