I run my TC3 around 10mm....which is high...but it works for me in so many ways...incl the look of a real car around corners

I wish the Havok system was out when I started, perfect set up for USVTA.

On carpet I run 5-ish mm on my TC3's and TC4. Outdoors at our demonstration races we typically end up on asphalt that's a bit rough. REALLY rough, actually. Out there I just run the adjusters down on the springs until it looks high enough.

As far as the Havoc/21.5 system I picked one up when Tower got a few in (they sold out almost instantly). It is the best value in brushless...and a system that is tailor-made for VTA (in fact Novak references VTA in their site description). Figure you're getting a $85 motor, so the esc is only $65 even at Tower's every day price. And that's an esc that has LiPo cutoff and a number of other great features. I can't wait to fire this bad boy up! The deal was sweeter yet as Tower had one of their "take $20 off any order over $149" coupon codes going, and the Havoc system JUST squeaked in over the $149 without having to buy something else, so $129. Then Tower Club members get free shipping on orders over $150. hmmm...I have a servo that no one locally has a case for...sure enough, Tower has it in stock for $5. Spend $5 for something I already needed to save $9 in shipping. DING!!

Haywood,

The havoc system works great. I installed one in a friends car. It was easy to setup. I set it for fwd/brake and set the drag brakes and he was good to go all night. No problems, If I wanted a cheap brushless setup I would buy one.

Thanks

Adam

I'm guessing Haywood belongs to the MMR club. He's stuck with 27t or 17.5 BL this year.

I think I saw a post or thread about the '09 VTA nationals, but can't seem to find it? Anyone have a link or info.

I have been helping run two race programs that have a nice size Trans Am turnout and they both have a pretty good novice racer turnouts too. Many of the novices/rookies move from Rookie class to TA. 4 cells and a 27T has been the most prevalent when they move up. Our programs give out for free the batteries and motors to those moving up. The batts/motors are donated by better racers for this purpose. It works out perfect that Rookie only needs to buy wheels/tires and a body to move into TA at our tracks.
