Default How To Convert A Traxxas Rustler To Brushless?

If I buy a Mamba Maxx motor for my STOCK Traxxas Rustler what do I need to use the motor?

I Don't Mean My VXL I Men't I Am Going To Buy A Used One Off Of Ebay! LOLZ

You will probably need to adjust gearing for run time but stock gearing will work.

You will also want to get good batteries.

you might need to upgrade the transmission to metal, i think the stock has plastic parts.

If you are running a brushless motor, you will need a Brushless esc. now you did not specify your model of rustler. if it is the VXL version, it is already brushless compatible. but if it is the xl-5 version, the esc will NOT work with it.

let us know what esc you have, and what motor it is (KV).

Whoops, i just saw your sig. sorry.

So you do have the vxl version, so you can just plug in the motor. now, if you told us the kv rating of the motor, we could help with gearing. but regardless of the motor, i would suggest a smaller pinion gear. i dont know exactly, but the higher rpm of the motors will require a smaller pinion.
