I just purchased a set of titanium Lunsford turnbuckles for my XXX-T, but they do not fit, which is due to the turnbuckle ends. The original turnbuckles must of stripped the plastic so it makes a crappy fit... you can slide the turnbuckle in that's how bad it is. Should I get stock turnbuckles ends or go for something better?

The stock ends are as good as any, but RPM makes nice ends.

Titanium turnbuckle kits are made for just about every rc car under the sun.

Don't hold me to this -- I could be wrong.

I think they are making a new, optional, oversized ball stud, ball cup, and turnbuckle. If I'm right, then that may be what you've got.

If you're concerned more about durability than weight, I reccommend getting the larger ends and studs. If you're an experienced racer, you might want to get the standard turnbuckles.

For the standard turnbuckles, Losi makes an upgraded ball cup. Check your friendly local hobby store.

The oversized turnbuckles and ball cups really arent necissary. I think you just stripped the heck out of the stock ball cups for them not to be able to fit a lunsford turnbuckle.

If he's got the standard turnbuckles/ball cups, I agree. We install new ball cups every time we change a turnbuckle. They're cheap and the failures are painful.

And, yes, we do break the Lunsford turnbuckles. We also replace all the ball cups before every "big" race. Again, failures are painful.

My guess is your truck was an RTR. The RTR trucks come with oversize tie rods and ball cups. If you bought the standard Lunsford tie rod set you will need to buy standard ballcups to go with it. The RTR ball cups will only fit the Lunsford Superduty tie rods.

Just buy a set of replacement stock ball cups, not RTR and you will be fine.

I am going to get RPM's longer shank ends. Blue. And how do you safely get the e-clips off? I have always been just ripping the part off.

Don't waste your time on the RPM ball cups. They are softer plastic and although they don't break, they pop off easier and also are undersize so they tend to bind on the ball cups.

As far as e-clips, just take a pic, dental tool or small flat blade screwdriver and pop them off from the back side. Get under the relief in the clip and pry it off.

Like Skip says, don't use the RPM ball cups.

Losi makes good ones. The standard ones are fine, and they make an upgrade ball cup as well if you want to spend and extra buck. Most serious racers use the upgrade cup -- if it's good enough for them, ....
