Rick I saw you on www.rctvlive.com #711. You look the same as you did 20 years ago...good to see you still racng.

Now back to the batteries. I like the look of the new shrink wrap. Something different at least.

Surely also if Orion wanted to win over customer buying they would elaborate a little more about them rather than just saying theyve been designed by Orion? If I were releasing *new* cells i'd be giving info about them that sets them out from the rest in some shape or form?

Maybe not?

"For over 25 years, Reedy has been producing and developing competition-level batteries that meet and exceed the demands of the hardcore racer. This commitment to performance is now available to the masses in an easy-to-use, plug-and-play form.

Reedy’s all-new WolfPacks have been created using the knowledge and experience of an engineering group responsible for winning 28 world titles. This winning philosophy forms the cornerstone of all Reedy products. With no exception, WolfPacks provide world class performance for your R/C car, truck, boat, or motorcycle.

Because a battery pack is only as good as its individual cells, WolfPacks are assembled using Reedy’s all-new high-tech SC-R Nickel Metal Hydride cells. This exclusive cell features high capacity for extended run times while delivering maximum output thanks to its current-carrying capabilities and ultra-low internal resistance."

Wow Reedy cells, that's interesting so Reedy has battery engineers and a battery manufacturing plant, great news! So who's the battery chemistry engineer at Reedy? From which one of the 20 chinese manufacturers are these "high-performance" cells coming from?

Is it BYD battery?

Nice copy of Team Orion Rocket stick packs! Follow the leader!

You make a very good point! Although I am not sure how I bashed the product.

The way I see it, Orion has been dealing with IB, GP, and EP with thier previous cells with out hiding it. Even thier Lipo with the hard case developed by Kokam was not hidden so I would assume that they actually had input or worked with someone in developing these cells as the text stated. At the end of the day it's all about Performance, Reliability, and price for me. So if Orion has Batts that has a good balance on my criteria then I will buy it.

This batteries aren't released yet, we just received some pre release information. When they are released Team Orion will go into further details about the actual cell and what sets it apart.

To clarify what is written in the news piece on Red RC, they never claimed to have their own battery factory, only that the cells have been made to their own developed specifications. These are not re-badged cells.

I like Orion stuff...hell, I even like and get along well with Oscar...which places me in a rare demographic in the world's poulation...lol!

Thats said...lets be real here, when it comes to batteries, Orion is a battery matcher just like Trinity, SMC, Reedy,....They have some things they do different but in the end no matter what shrink wrap they put on a cell they are buying them from the same places everyone else is buying them from.

Anyone here can call a battery manufacturer and if they have enought $$ get any cell with anything on the shrink wrap they they want to put on it.

This is like role reversal with the LiPo situation. Batteries from an unknown source with someone's label on them, touting them as the next great thing. It's kind of funny, as Orion is one of the few companies that IS forthcoming about where they source their LiPo. The mind boggles. :-)

The fact is that I alone am on the mailing lists of at least 20 Chinese battery maanufacturing companies, all eager to provide finished cells with whatever shrink wrap I provide.

I highly doubt this is some new cell developed by Orion. Especially when you consider that their current staff does not have the knowledge to carry out this type of undertaking. Maybe they have hired some enginners or bought a battery factory? But I doubt it.
We tested many brand name battery ,
but this moment in China not have other brand name can fight IB !

That is why IB is Reedy's choice for competition batteries

but it seems that IB cells are too long and shouldn't be on the EFRA approval list next season.

but these manufacturers think RC have very very big market ,
& don't test other format want take this battery market .

if you go to China saw EP battery Co.
