I would suggest keeping the car until you are ready to make the move.. do some research in that time of the model that suits you... keep in mind parts availability and other local drivers cars... it's easier to get going with a few tips from a fellow driver of your car and if you break in an emergency they may let you bum a part

I would get the 1100mah nimh packs (the ones for $21.99) as nimh is a superior battery technology, and one advantage is that the memory effect that used to plague the old nicads is greatly reduced. So topping up isn't as much of a sin, and ensures your battery is always full of juice.

It would be nice if you could get the nimh's in a higher mah rating, 1200 would be nice, but 1100 should be fine.

get this.....
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXVG17&P=ML

charge it with this at .5 amps...if you are in a hurry 1 amp max.

nickel metalhydride gives you more run time than nicads......be sure to get a charger (like what I suggested) that charges nickel metalhydride.......do not discharge.....unlike nicads....discharge is a must.

penggoy.....get 5 AA cells put it in your battery box one by one....you can do 2 layers with 2 cells and 1 single cell on top .....see how your battery box cover is shaped.....it has more space in the middle ....so the arrangement is like this.....the top cell should be in between the 2 cells.

...hope you understand.
