Thanks.
If you are using the HPI 64 pitch spur gears which i suggest you dont (they strip and get damaged easily, and the HPI parts pretty much wont give you top speed) then you need to go the smallest spur i think its a 94 and largest pinions.... i think 48-50
Note that i run a heatsink/fan on my motor and also clear out as much room around the motor as possible to try and get good airflow/cooling.

Oh BTW my starting preference is around 39 pinion/69 spur

What's the biggest 64 pitch spur gear I can get into the Pro4?
I just found out the hard way that not every gear will fit. I bought a 111 tooth 64 pitch spur and a couple pinion gears to get my final drive between 6 and 7.5 and the spur gear is contacting the chassis.
Am I missing something here?

Had my first evening out with the car tonight. Just gettign used to it and learning (Thanks MATTS if you read this) and as it would, a front lower control arm got broken (funnily enough not by me). I was told to get a softer compound arm as it stands up to accidents better but the steering can be less responsive. Does HPI make the arms in softer compounds or am I stuck buying the stock ones (73506)?

Now my question...I am tearing up cvd's left and right. My car is totally uncontrollable (running a spool in the rear, one way in front) with the 4.5 on asphalt. The springs are neo yellow (stiff) and whenever I go into a turn, it's like drift city. Which tires are the best to go with this high speed set-up? I am running the Hara Pro 4 and while it is a rocket, this uncontrollable-ness in turns is really a downer.

Hmmm mustve been a pretty big hit to break a front arm in 4 cell stock
Are these the ones you are talking about????

Ive got some but have never tried them, they are NOT meant to be good for carpet as they are designed to give higher traction

Actually i take that back they are good for carpet
HPI's High Traction Suspension is made from softer material plastic compound than the standard graphite-plastic suspension arms, these arms are ideal for use on high-traction track surfaces such as high grip smooth tarmac and carpet.
