IRS recommends sanding the diff rings for better diff action, not slippage. Basically, you put the ring on a diff half, and sand in a figure 8 motion on a very flat surface. Check out this link for a much better example and explaination: http://www.rc-oval.com/issues/June_0...is-prep-II.htm It's toward the bottom.

Just got my kit. Unfortunately, I have to wait for some stuff before I build it. Like lubes and stuff. No matter, don't have a radio, batteries and charger yet. So i'm in no rush.

while you wait...give the gears a warm bath and start prepping the chassis. I'm sure you can pre-assemble some parts of the car...if your fingures start to itch to build something...

I will definitely start that stuff. Is the kit shock oil good for outdoor asphalt w/stock motor?

Should I try box setup first?

The kit comes with 50wt oil...
try the stock set-up first and go from there.
ounce your shocks and car is assembled...it's easy to change to different wt. oil.
Tracks and driving styles differ...so you just never know..the box set-up may be perfect for some...

The car can be raced on both asphalt or carpet...the chassis is very stiff as it is. And Hara qualified third and finished in second place at the carpet Cleveland Indoor Nationals during last Thanksgiving weekend.

I'm a bad example...I go overboard....
Don't buy what I buy...you'll end up broke like me...
Half the things I get... I don't need...

Default SOME NEW GOODIES..

A few things the mailman brought me yesterday...

HPI Graphite drive shaft and Tobee drive cups:

Square front knuckles:
http://groups.msn.com/RCZOMBIES/hpip...to&PhotoID=317

Square rear hubs:

I can believe how light the car is. With all the electronics installed...weighs in at 48oz. +/- without body. and that's with the Xray ballast weights installed.... Good think locals tracks don't check weights... especially if it was to meet ROARS min. weight limit of 54oz.

I picked up my Pro4 today.

Flipped through the manual on the hour long bus ride back to the dorm, and I can't wait to get it rolling.
