Any idea when we'll see a race flyer or registration form?

Default 08 On-Road Asphalt Nats

I would like to get some input from those of you who plan on attending some of this years National events. It does'nt matter which National you plan to attend as I'm sure this would not affect your opinions greatly.

I have been hard at work meeting with businesses in my area to prepare for this race. Today I spent time negotiating hotel rates and such. This being said, in your experience which of the two following senarios would be best for the majority.

#1 A single "Official Hotel of the Nats" with a block of rooms all at one facility (example Holiday Inn Express) at a discounted rate of $89 per night for a double. This facility is well rated. Also, this option will allow all the events participants to stay in one place.

#2 Or maybe just two or three recomended facilities at regular rates of around $49 to $69 per night for a double. While, this option is obviously the least expensive, the facilities are rated a bit lower and would have the racers spread out.

Also I am considering organizing a get-to-gether of sorts for all of the participants to attend. Nothing big just posting some info on some prominant forums and placing the info in the shop, to encourage all involved to get together and have some fun after the first day of practice. Does this hold value in your mind. Do you feel it would be well attended?

I look forward to your input.

Normally #2, but option 1 is resonably priced and if the hotel has interior halls, and close proximity to the track I'll opt for it. As far as the get-together, sounds interesting.

Normally the track picks one hotel and negotiates a cheaper then normal rate for those rooms. If that hotel is say $89 a night, and some people want a cheaper and less quality room they are more then welcome to find alternatives on their own. Since this isn't a hotel race, it really doesn't matter, people can stay wherever they want.

If you can compile a list of hotels in the surrounding area that is helpful.

Default $

So, if I can get enough rooms for all racers at one facility for a rate of say $79 for a well rated hotel there would it be safe to assume that this would please the majority?

First off your talking about racers. The cheaper the better. Their only in the rooms for a short time due to the racing. Just see if they'll give a special rate and add their #s to the flyer. As far as a special night? I've been to a couple. For the most part the guys just want to do their own thing and get their stuff ready for qualifying. I'd concentrate on that track and where your going to put everyone and having enough power outlets. I'd see what the average turnout has been for onroad nats the last few years and go from there.

no one has ever asked that question to us racers.. they just ask what the races hotel is, then they book it.....

ive never heard anyone complain about 89 a night...but i hear "what a $hi**y hotel before....just make it a decent hotel and all will be good

And this is some how unique to Omaha? I would think that if I did news story search on mall shootings I would get a few hundred stories.
