Since youhaven't stated racing/bashing or even the type of car, my advice would be the following:

Buy a 2WD electric stadium truck. Eg Losi XXX-T, Associated T4.

The shocktowers are protected by the shape of the body, and the cars themselves are extremely robust.

What's this Associated breaks arms and Losi doesn't crapola!? They all do. Every crash is different! I ran a BK2 Losi for 2 years without breaking a sinlge thing. And I bet if it was a B4, I wouldn't have either.

If you could find a HPI RS4 Rally car go for it. Its the most durable car i ever owned.

To the animaleide, this thread is about R/Cs that take a beating. smooozzz check with your local hobby shop to see what they mostly stock up on. Waiting for parts sucks, you want to get going soon as possible. Talk to them what other people use.

I'm assuming that you are looking for a ready-to-run. Your price limit rules out the Losi or AE RTR vehicles, and leaves you with Traxxas or Duratrax. In my experience...go with one of the Traxxas vehicles(Rustler or Stampede). Not knocking Duratrax, but the Traxxas stuff is much more durable.

I recommend the B4 RTR. If you look around you can come in under 250 and it takes a beating. The only thing i broke was a turnbuckle. I replaced it with team version turnbuckles and I was good to go. Plus its pretty easy to work on as well. Im not the most mechanical guy in the world and working on my car doesn't give me too many fits. lol

Best advice right here. Check with your LHS and see what they stock and sell. All cars will break so you want one you can get local parts and support for. Some cars and trucks are more durable than others but the Traxxas vehicles are pretty rugged for bashing and some are great starters into racing as well. Duratrax makes a great product as well but aren't as rugged as the Traxxas but will make better racers out of the box. In the end go with what they sell locally as there will be better parts support.
