Default CRC's New Clik-Trak Barrier System

http://www.teamcrc.com/crc/modules.p...article&sid=62

I just saw this on CRC's site. It uses square PVC that's pre-cut and measured. The pieces lock into each other. It's not that cheap though. $1200 for a Small Pack and $1600 for a Large.

The new track in Cincy, TriState Hobbies and Raceway, will be using this system.

We put that down almost a year ago at the C in Frederick, MD... One of the racers got it at cost at a fencing company he works for.... And it was half the cost that CRC is charging.. But we don't have the "clik" system...

I cannot express enough how valid CRC's point is concerning square pipe vs. round pipe. Round pipe is not good for 1/12th scale road course cars.

At Snowbirds, I was surprised to see they used round pipe. I broke 2 times and have never seen so many 1/12th scale cars break. It was common to see 10 start and only 5 finish. Obviously, we all try to never touch the boards, if you don't push the limits, you may not be going fast enough. And there is always the times where another racer will knock you into the boards. It's inevitable. Resistance is futile. Anyway, I am very glad to see this new race ready "Clik-Trak" system that CRC makes. Square construction is best!

This system has been discussed in our country, and we pretty much all agreed that it was an ok thing, but outragiously expensive!

This stuff (CRC) system is the wave of the future. The system has no need for paint, nails or even wood chips. It is very useable and friendly. It is 2" x 2".

KyLayfield,
Can you edit your first post and use this thumbnail:
http://www.teamcrc.com/crc/images/st...k/90-2-320.jpg
Then you can hyperlink it to the full image:
http://www.teamcrc.com/crc/images/st...ktrak/90-2.jpg

When you post an image that large (1628x1031), we then have to scroll to the right to read everything and to see the "Reply" button, etc...

It does look pretty slick. It's nice that the pieces all fit smoothly together, so no nasty joints to cause breakage.

Our local track has an archaic setup of 2x4s and puck-board that has served us well but it does have to painted now and then and it loses some wood chips too. Unfortunately, we can't afford to get a fancy board system, as our club is owned and operated by its members. Maybe it's time for a fund raising drive.

The material is easy to get. Any fence company can order many different size PVC rails in blank form (no holes). It isn't the cheapest stuff as it is petroleum based so it is very expensive.

Bending your own square pipes might be the hard part if you can get your own square tubes from another source.

This stuff sure does look nice but it would cost most clubs about $3000 To lay an entire track. Our new club will be running on 60'x120' track which would probably be over 4 grand based on CRC's estimations.

It would cut down on set up and tear down time quite a bit though. How do you guys think this stuff would hold up to parking lot use and 1/10 nitro cars?

I like it...nice and clean look. The cost is about what we paid for Road Rails allready. A bit more expensive then I would like but within the same price range as existing pre-built tracks. And no spending 4+ hours attaching velcro and foam pads My only issue is portability...the Road Rail system stacks up nicely in a much smaller space. But ours seriously needs new velcro and foam and it seems HyperHobbies can't be contacted anymore.
