Default Gear Ratios Help

Hi Guys,

Im trying to gear my G4 up for my small and technical track, where we still use 2nd gear, which combination of spur gears and pinions of the ones available would be the best suited.

1st Spur Gear: 19 20 21
1st Pinion: 50 51 52
2nd Spur Gear: 23 24 25
2nd Pinion: 46 47 48

Thanks

Sami

how about every one else, what kind of servos are you running in your g4?
Once you run Futaba S9550 low profile servo for your steering.. you will get spoiled for not having others

Default gears

wouldnt the highest spur and lowest pinion have slow accelaration but high spee?
if the track is small you need something to get you going fast

Small Pinion = Quicker acceleration, Slower final speed
Big Pinion = Slower acceleration, Faster final speed

Small Spur = Slower acceleration, Faster final Speed
Big Spur = Quicker acceleration, Slower final speed.

just use final drive ratio as prefferences... the higher the final drive, the better the acceleration with decrease in high speed.

(Spur/pinion) X Internal Ratio = Final Drive Ratio

Hope it helps

Sometime people get me confuse too

I just notice you got the meaning of spur and pinions backward as Kmac mentioned. Please refer to the manual.
