I wish a set of control tires was cheaper than 40 euros.... a month ago, I changed the 4 tires of my 1/1 car (195/65 r15) and they cost me 306 euros, Pirelli P7 tires, including new valves, mounting work, tire balancing and waste handling!!! And these tires are much bigger!!!

for 40 euros, I would expect the tires were at least balanced...

In Italy we have two associations:

AMSCI (member of EFRA adn IFMAR) :
each year a tyre type is chosen (Much More for 2007)

UISP (member of CONI which is member of CIO - Comité international olympique):
free tyres for the "Unlimited" class and for the "Sport" Class (19 T or 10,5 BL); Medial PRO for the "Junior" class (27T)

here in France we are using Nosram Vtec30R since two year. Next year, new type of tyre will be choosen but still premount/glued type. We also have a limitation of two sets of tyres for the national race weekend.
Price for a set of tyre is about 30€ so i think it's a really good solution because it allow to limit the cost of the race and verey driver have the same conditions.

Thank you all,

I this very interesting. Didnt realise so many countries used them. Specially surprised with Italy.

So, if understand right control tyre is used in:
UK - RP 30
Greece - LRP 30
Austria - CS 27
Denmark - Sorex 28/36
Netherlands - CS 27
Switzerland - CS 27
France - not sure but i think is Medial Pro
Germany - i think is LRP 30

The only exceptions i remember are Spain and Portugal.

Being used to run without control tyre, i have to agree with you. I have to stock dozens of tyres, because you never know what will work on a particular race day.
And off course, a lot of practice and setup time is wasted trying to figure out what tire works best. Sometimes the weather changes, and then you have to change tyres and setup.

As I mentioned on my post, starting next season, Spain will have control tires as well... We use to have them in the past, but since a couple of years ago, we were running free, even foams...

cheers,

I'm not sure, as "o pessoal" met after last national event, but new rules are not yet published on www.aecar.org. I heard about the new rule speaking with gonzo, a former national champion.

Eu tambem falo portugues galera!!! actually spent my childhood @ Sao Paulo and last month at Lisbon, Porco Covo, Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, and a couple of very nice places I don't remember the name!!

I have asked on another forum as I don't know the answer, I'll get back to you when I know.

A guy on the BRCA commitee 'thinks' it was 4000 sets of tyres that were imported to the UK with the BRCA logo on.
