Hey guys, I hate answering these types of questions but I need help. A few of us are interested in starting a F1 class at our carpet track. If you were going to start from scratch in F1, what Tamiya chassis would you get and why. I'm drawn to the F104w because of the looks of the older cars. However, the 104 pro looks like a better racing platform. And of course the 103 has a good reputation on the track but I'm concerned about parts availability.

Please point me in the right direction.

I have one of them on order from rcmart. Should have it within the next few days. They have a couple different versions. I almost ordered the version that replaces the flexing t-plate with a hinged piece but at the last second I went with the regular motor pod that has the altered locations for the axle bearing holders that allow 5 ride height settings instead of 3.

At our track we have F103, F104 and 3Racing F1-09.F104 is harder to setup to be as fast as F103 and F109 but once you get the right setup it is as fast as the others. Started with F1 last year and so far I think it is all about right tires and driver skill. Not the car.

On foams I have found the 103 to be clearly the better chassis but should your club run rubber the F104 kit can be as good or better in certain conditions. The optimal configuration for the track my F1 gear sees the most would be a 104W (104 w/ 103 FE & tires) coupled w/ a std 103 body.

F103 is faster than a 104 in stock form. A 104 with the 103 front end and 103 tires (similar to the 104w) should be pretty close to the 103 if you are concerned about parts.

If you just want to go fast, I'd buy the Yeah racing Transformula setup. That is the baddest thing I have seen yet.

Mine's about 190mm in my F103. Novak GTB.

Easily reaches esc in middle of chassis which is below the front shock mount.

Any opinions on whether the Zen or TRG rear diffuser is better? Is the difference in rear grip significant?
