Think we may have solved the problem with esc going dead before start, Ashley Wiffen has found something about it on the german forum and it translates to this.
On the transmitter tab in the latest sofware you have a neutral point width which is set to 80, reduce this to 50 and it apparently gives a much smaller neutral parameter on the transmitter which helps with radio's with a large dead spot, namely the futaba 3vcs.
You can also nudge the trim forward untill the red light comes on the esc to make sure you dont get any probs.
Cheers Paul

I am looking at trying mod and was wondering if i could ask for some advise.
I have a gm120 (not the 2010) and was wondering what setting I should run a mod on (mode 2)?
I will be running a novak ballistic 5.5 motor on a large outdoor circuit on tarmac with a xray t2009. a guide to gearing starting point would also be great aswell.
Thanks in advance
James

hey Ben, i ran 11.6 this weekend (fri at sidcup) and nothing major from what i can tell, although it did seem to be smoother away from the line (had issues with sensors/cogging before)

Hi, I have GM Genius 120 #7168 firmware 4.9 (2009) and want to upgrade to the latest firmware. If the difference is large for the new GII, I'd like to update v8.0, I think it's the last for my esc.
There is possibility to update via USB cable. Why does not Gm makes available the software to upgrade.
Thanks
Nelson

did you do a factory reset after upgrading the speedo ?
If you read it in, what does it say ?
I'll have a look next time i see you if you don't get it sorted

I updated mine and it shows 11.6 on upload, I asked the question at GM about the differences, only change is three flashing led's at neutral if no change is made to power profile and a more stable eeprom, anyone know how the unstability manifested it'self before? Also mine has a tendancy to cog from standstill not from slow corners at all once rolling but always from dead still, anyone know how to correct this?

What do you have your softstart set at?
#1544
why is everybody messing around with softstart!???
I reckon it's with the Highspeedtiming enabled (reserved4=1)
in that case it starts off in HST mode already, the slight back and forth rocking is normal and you won't get that away
you could enable HST with switchpoint (reseved 4 = 3) but then you have a switchpoint which normally never feels really good.
11.6 runs more stable, issues of the speedo not starting once in launch control have been solved, and when no power program has been enabled, the leds flash in neutral
that's it
I stongly recommend updating!

I dont mess around with softstart it was just a suggestion as from the instructions it states ''In case the motor doesn't speed up as desired, or gets stuck at lower RPMs than desired, then immediately switch the motor off and reduce the Softgas value''
