What is everyones thought on using a lipo battery to reduce weight?

My thoughts are simpel, the battery is already placed in the powest part of the car where you want it, If you want to take out weight it is better to find it higher and for sure in the driveshafts etc. Personally I find it stupid to replace the NiMh battery for a LiPo and with that the carbon/plastic holder for a brass one.
Beside that you have to use a regulator which is an extra electronic part with extra wires and connectors and can cause (extra) problems.

But people say LiPo with a regulator does give a faster and stronger servo and more runtime. If that is wanted then indeed the LiPo or LiFe is the way to go.

Personally, I use NiMH AND a brass tray. With all the weight I've taken off the top of the car and drive train I still have to add more weight.

Me too, when cars are weighed. I run the brass tray nimh battery and still need another 150 grams of brass too make weight. It is definetly worth it if you can get 100 grams of weight off of your drivetrain and unsprung weight like pillow balls.

people that argue about making a car as lite as possible and then putting back in as low cg as possible should watch 1 F1 race and see how much better lap times are with even 1 gallon of gas less in the tank.

Anybody knows what are the differences between the usual mugen white springs 1.9mm and the new mugen blue springs which is also 1.9mm?

Drill holes in the wheelshafts, drill holes in the pulley hubs, grind a lot of material off from the pulley hubs, use holow or titanium shafts for the gearbox and short middle shaft, drill out the large rear pulley and you can get titanium dogbones.
And if you do not use lightweight rimms, use them!

If you can do all mentioned then 30 up to 50 gram rotating mass can be saved.
