RC12 L3 or L4?

RC12 L3 or L4?
Can some of the 1/12 scale gurus take a look at this picture and tell me whether this is an L3 or L4? There are certain parts of it that look like they're from an L4 (blue hubs) and certain parts from an L3 (silver shock). Can somebody who knows the ins and outs of these things tell me what you think. Did they both have three battery slots on each side?
Thanks!
Thanks!

From that I see the main chassis and the center shock are from the L3 while the rest of the car is L4...

My L3 had all the aluminum anodized blue including the shock...that has a silver shock and a silver motor plate...it could even be an LC with an upgraded rear axle assembly. I'd have to see the chassis cut outs on the bottom and compare them to both my L3 and LC to say which.

I'll double check when I get home but I believe that is the L3 chassis
There's really very little difference between the LC and the L3. The chassis cutouts were different and the LC used a 2 bolt axle hubs while the L3 used a 3 bolt axle hubs. Both used stealth diff rings. The L4 changed that up by going to large D-ring diff rings.

Thanks for all the replies. I received it in a trade. I was told it was an L4 but after looking over it I knew certain things weren't right. The diff does have D shaped rings so I have a feeling the rear is from an L4 while alot/most of the rest is from an L3. I don't know what is up with people like that. Did he honestly think I wouldn't notice?
If anyone has anymore insight on this car please post it.
Thanks again

It might have started out as an L4 and he switch the chassis plate with an L3 because either it was on sale, someone gave it to him or it was the only one around and he was in a pinch ( broke the origional). Sorry just thinking outside the box.

Whatever, the thing he got in trade wasn't nearly as valuable as this is even if it is just an L3.
Thanks again for the help! I'm going out and buying a new body for it this weekend and I'll post up some pics when it's done.

Yeah definately an L3 chassis...possibly it started out as a standard L3 which was silver parts then he probably got a screw kit and rear axle hubs later.

As promised, here are a few pictures of it with the body on. The first is of it with the body that came with the car. It looks like something a three year old painted. The second two pics are of it with the new body I just painted. I really wanted one of those beautiful 1/12 bodies that Protoform makes but this was all my hobby shop had in stock. It's made by Mccallister.
